This puzzle was all over the map.
Pablo Pasco wins gold medal in Sunday Crossword competition. Bravo!
No joy at all. A bleak experience.
If only "one term" applied to someone else! Black Monday ahead. Otherwise, Emily and Kunal, you can return as often as you wish...
Ya hit it out of the park, Nathan...a cracker-jack of a Wednesday puzzzle!
Under the current administration, 1 Down is no longer true, right?
Got to hand it to Christopher for a Thursday puzzle that was easier done than said. Muy bueno, paisano!
Wish i could have enjoyed this, but our nation suffered a major set back yesterday and i am in mourning,
I'm interrupting my usual crossword commentary (Thanks for a nice Sunday workout, Z and J!) to pass along a bit of Xmas trivia. Last night, friends and I watched "The Man Who Invented Christmas"...a delightful movie about Charles Dickens and the writing of "A Christmas Carol." It inspired me to read about Dicken's life. There I discovered that when he wrote the novel "Barnaby Rudge", he included a talking raven, Grip, named after his own talking pet raven Grip. Edgar Allen Poe read the novel and it inspired him to write "The Raven." I thought this crowd would enjoy the seasonal literary connection.
It wan't that deep. But twas fun.
Fun Sunday word play with enough little challenges to wake the brain. Thanks Garrett!
Just back from reunion w kids I taught Latin to in te 80s...of course, they're no longer kids...one even became a Professor of Latin at Notre Dame. So I loved the Roman numerals...it's about how old I felt! LOL. We often never know the influence we have as teachers...Ad astra!! Gratias tibi, Adam.
Delightfully fresh Thursday puzzle...and any puzzle which includes the great Anita O'Day is pure joy....so sad that so few know her music...one of the most extraordinary jazz singers in American history. Made my day! (Look for the documentary on her life and career...Anita O'Day: The Life of a Jazz Singer.)
Today's puzzle reminds me of when we got a substitute teacher for the day and what was expected to be the same old routine suddenly became a fun and attention grabbing class. Drop in any time, Ms. Lin! Brava!
Welcome back Will A fenomenal way to start the new crossword year! And Bravo, Robert, phor the alfabetical challenge!
YES! But what is even better than finishing this delightful Thursday challenge? Finding out my oldest brother was the new Pope's roomate freshman and sophomore year in high school at St. Augustine's, where I myself went to sumer camp in my grade school years. A double positive!! (no kiddiing!)
A quick glance around today's crossword and I knew it was going to be a challege...but then my eye caught clue 38D: East African honorific. Tuns out when I was a boy in the 60s, we had a dog my Dad named Bwana. I loved that dog...and he was the key to opening up today's puzzle. Thanks Bwana...and you too Samuel for a fun ride today!
Wednesday ease with Thursday charm. HolyCow made me laugh. Delightful puzzle...just moovelous!
Cloris Leachman was the crowning glory of this relatively easy climb up a Wed puzzle. From The Last Picture Show to Young Frankenstein to Mary Tyler More Show to Malclom in the Middle...she was brilliant! And so undercelebrated!
Pure delight. This puzzle passed the Sunday test with flying colors...well done, Adam!
Soon as i saw 68 Down, I stopped. End of story.
Such delightful word play...excellent puzzling Sam! Look forward tor more from you.
My spidey sense is telling me we'll see more of Abigail. Nice initial Frday!
I cannot lie...this crossword really spiked my interest. Bravo, Rena!....hope you'll become a polypuzzlemaker.
Rather odd. Bottom 2/3 played likre a sober Monday and the top 1/3 played like a tripped-out Saturday. Bit of a unicorn crossword. Nice debut Henry!
What a charming and mirthful theme...Perhaps the most delightful Tuesday puzzle ever! Take a bow, Sarah, for twirling up a real charmer!
Excellent Wednesday fare!! Thanks Kiran, that was fun!
Taught HS art...never heard of Art Lab...perhaps a newer terminology? But, hey...iIt's May! The lusty month of May! That lovely month when ev'ryone goes Blissfully astray. Tra la! It's here! That shocking time of year When tons of wicked little thoughts Merrily appear! It's May! It's May! That gorgeous holiday When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad Will be a cad! It's mad! It's gay! A libelous display! Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes, Ev'ryone breaks. Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes The lusty month of May!
Rome was a Republic in 48 B.C. Much as we are in 2025. How much longer?
This puzzle took no prisoners but had a fairy tale ending. Merci, Gia!
Unecessary roughness....Paul's in the Sin Bin....
"She's out there!" was a hoot! Got caught by Heft/Free but otherwise fun Friday. Now to prepare for Freezing Rain......looks to ba a milestone re southern winter storms....def not a frozen treat!
Yes siree!!! i'm a old geezer and really enjoyed this puzle...keeps me on my cultural toes. Grazie Aidan!
No need to mess with Texas...the current governor already messed it up. Fab Thursday puzzle, Josh! Spilt milk opened it all up for me. Speaking of which, time for breakfast!
Ka-ching! The answers to this Sunday crossword fell like pennies from heaven...took about the quarter of my usual time to complete, though a few almost made me stop on a dime. Would have been fun to have worked in the four President's names but I imagine that would have involved quite a bit of change. Thanks Kareem for doing your Sunday best, to coin a phrase!
Hated it, then loved it. So glad to have something to take my mind off the insanity of our current national situation...however briefly. Don't forget to boycott tomorrow!! Buy LOCAL every day!!!
Looks like every generational group was included...dazzling Saturday. Don't go, Ryan...give us some more puzzles! Bravo!
C’était un casse-tête un peu délicat mais grandiose néanmoins!
Lovely Sunday word romp...especially for those new to crosswords, which is so important. Great debut, Kate...keep 'em coming!
Game. Set. Match. Bravo, Kareem!
The best is indeed yet to come, given today's offering. Meh.
Sam Ezersky annoys me daily with his monocractic use of obscure words in Spelling Bee. So when his name pops up as the author of a crosword, i gird my lingual loins and settle in for an amusing battle of witticisms. And today I won. A non-life changiing thrill no doubt but nevertheless it was the source of heady mirthfulness. Til next time, Emperor Ezersky, til next tme!
TGIF! Water is back on in Richmond and Robert Logan gave us a solid Friday puzzle. Kinda sorta wonderful!
Wow. i did it. Some whack stuff in there but also some fun stuff too....persistence and creative thinking paid off.
