Bro get out of here with OPERAARIA. What are we even doing
The entire middle and lower middle is just bad. I've seen puzzles rejected that are so much more clever than this, very odd
No one in the history of the world has ever said "dash it" out loud, ever.
A little wobbly in places but the freshest puzzle in a while which is always appreciated, so for that it gets an A
One of the worst weeks of puzzles I can remember so far
I don't mind novelty but the insistence lately on adding small phrases in lieu of words is getting pretty old. NOIINSIST looks like an abomination and can almost only be cleaned with crosses, which, fine. But when half the answers are two word phrases it feels less clever and more ham fisted. Am I alone here?
I'm not getting any cleverness from the theme sadly, which made this much more of a slog than it would have been. Glad it seems to be mostly well received though
Easier than the Weds imo, still pretty fresh though the "theme" clues were pretty unsatisfying. Gonna go ask my pup what he thinks
@Anita very surprised that's a debut!
Sorry I hated this one
Really nice one for this week!
Really really nice one Had CLUBMED forever which was really messing me up
8:14 woot. Theme filled up a ton of the grid once it clicked
This was a nice one, except a lot of fast times since the theme takes up so much real estate. But a smile on my face the whole time
24:17 on a pretty solid, fiendish one S and m was a groan. And"print" took me like two minutes of staring since i was stuck on u-trap
The names in the bottom left were the only tricky bit, otherwise a silky smooth Sunday
Fantastic looking grid, fun fill I jived with at 15:34!!
22:18. Theme really opened it up, impressive fill though mostly
This was not a hard puzzle? Hint for newer solvers on Sundays - READ THE PUZZLE TITLE
Took. no. tice. I said this about fifty times before I got there lol
@Jon same, very tough corner, almost impossible without the trivia
Surprisingly didn't set a PR with this one lol but just over 4 mins. Feels like the theme should feel cheap but it didn't
14:56. Feels good for a winetraub. Curious how many of her clues get edited, I suspect very few
LEDGE crossing EDGE? Say it ain't so, Alex
Cluing was just bad here, made for a boring puzzle on an ok grid
Longest Thursday for me in years. Over 30 mins of pain lol
Fun one, some of the answers looked insane until filled. Sub 23:00, jived with it
Enjoyed this and the visual aspect worked for me, I never even thought to enter t/v. Just weird that the bottom right vee violated the pattern. Would've been more satisfying if it kept the same rules
OHME? Didnt know the hymn either so that was a mind killer
@Joseph Piwetz rebus puzzles will grow on you. The editors have grown to making them more visually obvious like this one with the circles. Additionally, they often have at least one bread crumb that clues you in ( IKEA being a pretty good guess here, but it not fitting... Usually if you KNOW the answer but it doesn't fit, and it's Thursday or Sunday, you can suspect a rebus)
@Andrzej great game! Takes a certain personality to enjoy it since it is literally just text but the atmosphere and writing are superb
Pleasant. 25:53 today, struggled with a bit of random fill but it never felt obnoxious
3:53 today, love getting under 4
Sub 20 min, not really getting why any effort was put into the "theme" but it was serviceable nonetheless
Pretty easy for a Friday but mostly enjoyable. More science trivia than usual which actually helped me
