@Grant And this 77 yo lady said "CHARLIXCX?????????????????????"
@Oikofuge Agreed. Although I've heard of GasX, I worked in a dentist's office for 25 years and never heard the term Xray camera. It's an Xray machine.
@Mick Yes, all those great solvers who say it was too easy can make us average brains feel dumb sometimes.
@mmm I've heard the phrase... something like "He's a sap for falling for her." Maybe because I'm old?
@Courtney B Guns go "bang".
@Andrzej I'm pretty old and remember "presto chango" as a term used more in fun in reference to magic tricks or pseudo magic tricks. Also, a co-worker liked ice wine because it was really sweet, so I had to read about it. Not for me. Maybe the emus like it.
@Jon Onstot Agreed. This old lady has no idea who NBA commissioners are, any hip-hop bands, movie directors, or TV shows I never heard of.... among others. I have no memory for proper name trivia.
@G I took math up through calculus in college and have never heard of LEMMA. (I'm also older than dirt.)
@Amy I don't understand the Bee's word choices either. I've tried many words from biology and medicine that are not weird jargon. They just don't like them.
@Jeff Z Me, too. So many things that this old woman never even heard of. My small mid-west town doesn't have HMARTs. ZADIE? OMOO? IDEST?
@Helen Wright It's official name is American Crow, as opposed to a Fish Crow or Raven.
@John Agreed. At least 8 pop culture names I'd never heard of. But, then, I'm older than dirt.
@Suzanne Agreed. I don't have cable TV and have never seen Friends. I was rather lost in this puzzle.
@Andrzej Us old people don't always listen to "newer" music. Never heard of Slash, Akon, Ne-Yo or whatever his name is or Dani California. Also, still don't know what TLDR stands for. But I have heard the old "nerts". (Yes, I'm in the second half of my 70s.)
@Francis DeBernardo There's a fairly dreadful nursery song from my childhood (over 70 years ago) that starts "Today is Monday, today is Monday. Monday "washday"... etc.
@JacquesDuFromage Me, too. I got as far as I could, then checked the puzzle. I only had 11 correct. Waaaaay out of this old lady's wheelhouse.
@mjengling I had HULASKIRT
@Helen Wright Agreed. It pains me when so many people say it's easy. Could be because I'm old, but I'd never heard of most of the proper names. Then, I haven't had cable TV for 25 years and hate sports. Like I should know who Mohammed Ali's trainer was??? Or the author (I never heard of) of a book I never heard of??? Oh, well. I keep slogging away at these to keep the emus happy.
@Bruce Me, too. Absolutely, totally out of my wheelhouse. It hurt my brain (and my ego).
@Anthony I must live in a cave. I never heard of ANY of the people in this puzzle. Admittedly, I don't have cable or satellite TV, so that leaves me in the dark.
@HeathieJ I, too, had Rubbermaid for a while before Tupperware.
@Amy I'm older than dirt, too, and thought of Brenda Lee. But then, I looked up Peggy March who had the #1 hit "I Will Follow Him". She had just turned 15. https://www.billboard.com/pro/peggy-march-i-will-follow-him-interview/
@Michael Agreed. This old lady must live in a cave. Never heard of Saltburn or the actor. Nor DarknStormy. Nor AGEMATE, among others.
@jennie So many proper nouns/names that I'd never heard of. But then, I'm older than dirt.
@Grant There's a dentist in my area named Dr. Payne.
@IZ Yep. I'm an artist and have never heard any artist refer to tinct in relation to color.
@John Agreed. I don't watch sports, TV, or go to movies. The non-stop names are frustrating.
@Rick In my narrow background, LORES are the spots between the beak and eyes of a bird. A White-throated Sparrow has yellow LORES.
@D I admit that I'd never heard "friend material" before either. But then, I'm OLD.
@Bob T. That's exactly what came to my mind, also.
@C. O'Connor I'm 76 yo and I got it. It's the TV show actors and movie directors I'm totally lost on.
@Ιασων I'm old and don't watch cable TV or movies. I hadn't heard of any of the people in today's puzzle. I did know the Fighting Illini, since I'm a Buckeye. Also, CARBOLOAD???
@dutchiris Yes, I had HAUL.
@Bruce I'm old enough, also. Watched The Lone Ranger religiously. He definitely said "Hi Ho Silver".
@George Stepney Me, too. Soooooo many things/names that I never heard of nor will remember in 5 minutes.
@Jerry Agreed. This old lady hasn't watched cable/satellite TV for 25 years and doesn't go to the movies much. I'm weird and don't listen to much modern music, so I hadn't heard of all but one or two of the proper names in this puzzle.
@R.J. Smith Yes, I'm so tired of rappers I never heard of and don't care to know about... said this old crone.
@Mr Dave I still don't get it. Never watched the show.
@H.E. I didn't get ADS at first either. I think ADmen pitch ads?
