What good is sitting with a back on your stool? Let your back ache all day. Life is a Tabouret, old chum, Sit on the Tabouret.
You know the coffee is kicking in slowly when you spend 30 seconds wondering what a BAND B is.
Wow, the naysayers are out in force today. My grandma used to say, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I thought this puzzle was great! Big smile when I figured out the revealer, and a headshake when I parsed TOAT correctly.
What a terrible puzzle, I wish we had Joel back. Psych! Very pleasant Sunday diversion.
It was too tricky for me to come up with a comment that had ONE L in each word, so I can only imagine how difficult this crossword was to construct. Bravo!
This one really clicked for me, though I had no idea who T.S. WIZZLE was until I read Wordplay.
I live in a tautological neighborhood—TABLE MESA—in Boulder, Colorado.
I thought for a moment that SNOT RAG was going to make its first ever appearance. Excellent Saturday.
I loved that the gimmick changed from answer to answer. Perfect Thursday!
@Mean Old Lady Haterade is a frequent drink of commenters here. Sadly, Flynn wouldn’t have worked, with only one L. And who can forget Misty? “I’m as helpless as a kitten in a tree …”
Even with the CLASSICAL GUITAR head start, this was an ideally challenging Saturday, following an ideal Friday. Same thing last week. Thanks constructors and Joel!
I was hoping for a video of SO WHAT from the Miles Davis album, “Kind of Blue,” featuring Bill Evan’s invention of what are now called “So What” chords, a minor seventh voicing with a stack of fourths over the root and a fifth on top. Oh, excellent Saturday puzzle by the way!
@Mean Old Lady For what it’s worth, GATTACA is spelled using the four letters that make up DNA coding.
Very enjoyable Saturday! This one clicked for me. Glad to see a new and interesting clue for the ubiquitous ONO.
Any puzzle that leads to a classic video in WordPlay is a WIN. CANT TOUCH THIS got even my AGED fingers snapping. Perfectly done theme!
Congrats, Morton! Excellent Wednesday. Every possible spot for a right turn was used.
Yay, a rebus on a non-Thursday! I love ‘em.
I like it when the puzzle leaves me with an earworm. Yesterday, SO WHAT, today SMOOTH OPERATOR.
Second week in a row where it felt like Friday was tougher than Saturday.
When I filled it in, I thought there could be a bit of a TODO about WIFEY, but nothing here! Maybe everyone’s SUFFERED FROM BURNOUT?
The musicians this puzzle reminded me about are the Ramones. “Sheena is a PUNK ROCKER.”
Super clever for a Monday, loved it!
Excellent Thursday rebus, and a good day for doing the crossword in pen and ink.
Sad to say, my first thought for “Buds go in them” was BONGS, which doesn’t fit, then PACK for a pack of Budweisers.
Nice crunchy Saturday! “A.M.A. member?” is a great clue.
Nice crunchy Saturday! Every corner was a challenge.
I really enjoyed the puzzle, but I was clueless (word choice, get it?) about BOTOX until I read Wordplay.
I finished this one after finishing Saturday. Ouch!
Some REFS (not in this puzzle, but a frequent guest) get riled when a player shouts AND ONE. Anyway, basketball, in addition to being good for the soul, is good (occasionally) for crossword solving!
For us morning solvers, I guess it's 5 PM right now somewhere in the world.
This one really clicked for me, very pleasant!
@Clifford ASSHAT delighted me twice this week.
@HeathieJ I like "SMH my head"
I finally finished!!! Toughest. Friday. Ever. That the editors questioned ISPEPSIOK says something about them.
@Mean Old Lady REY is the protagonist in the latest trilogy.
To quote Marvin the Martian: “Where’s the KABOOM? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering KABOOM.”
@Gary B MM did work. I entered the double letters for all the rebus squares.
Stoner alert! CONTACT HIGH was just two days ago, and now DOOBIE. The theme was JAKE for me, once I got PARKING from the crosses.
Glad to see the more important constant, e, get a shout out in this puzzle.
Great stuff! I’ll be smiling about SCREWS THE TITANS for a while.
@Rich in Atlanta The answer (say, START YOUR ENGINES) enters the wormhole at 4, travels faster than the speed of crossword-solving through the wormhole, and exits the wormhole at 23.
Today restored my confidence a little after yesterday’s struggle. Luckily I knew (THE)LONGESTDAY and ONLITTLECATFEET.
I guess ERTE(S) is a frequent answer, but this is the first time I can recall coming across it.
Nice crunchy Saturday! Thanks, Warringtons.
You’re all wrong. It’s obviously LULULULULULU, in honor of the Scottish singer.
I wish “Venue for a crapshoot” would’ve made the cut. Never seen “Hundos” before, embarrassed to admit that GSPOTS was my first guess.
@Amy Lomer Really, every second? What do you have against Sweden?
Tough one today, needed to set it aside a couple times. I was stuck on HAD NO DADDY until OOMPH helped me finish it off.
This Friday and Saturday made me feel back on track! I didn’t finish last Saturday until Monday.
