Cute but problematic as there is no way to mark the missing letters in the app. So it was hard to remember which letters had been butted out. I figured it out, and finished the puzzle, but it didn't work well without paper.
@David Meyers Probably technically true but I always called them castles. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
HINNY today I learned that a mule with a donkey mom is not a mule at all. It's a "hinny", which, despite being an animal person, is a term I've never heard until today. When you mix a lion and a tiger you get a liger or a tigon. But mix a horse and a donkey, you don't get a horkey or a donse. Nope, a mule or a hinny. I really wish there were horkeys.
Wow, hard to believe there are complaints about this. It's one of the most clever constructions I've seen in a decade of solving. A++
@Dave S You're definitely not gonna be alone here. I had to come check, and even after reading the explanation... Ough - "uff" (like tough, not oh) Sei - "say" Kane - "kane" (not can) Ieu - "ew"? Ssey - "say" again Uff say kane ew say! Fills me with patriotic fervor.
Note to self: "Stuff" is CRAM, not CRAP
Please don't start asking me the names of social media influencers! There aren't many topics that I avoid knowing about on principle! (I know it's fair game) Great puzzle nevertheless.
This was a real challenge; it's about the limit of what I can do. Took me a few minutes to swap out the E in YESQUEEN for an A. I liked the challenge though and had fun with this one. Had to put it down and come back a few times. Very satisfying to finish.
Left me *ry eyed, very fun and satisfying!
This one was right in my wheelhouse. Weird solve. I did it in half normal time - would just look at a clue with one letter in place and the answer just fell out of my brain. I felt like this was quite a tough puzzle but for some reason the crossword gods cast favor on me today. Definitely enjoyed it.
Cool trick with this one. Fun puzzle. I got the theme quickly... i agree with some of the comments that it wasn't intuitive when placing the fill but that's ok, it's supposed to be slippery. It made me think twice when checking crosses. Also Taio and Peretti is a mean natick. I got to _aio as my last square to fill and shrugged, then dropped a T because it seemed ok, and it worked.
I expected a lot of comments about how this one was easy and didn't find many of them. Took me about one third normal time. It's funny how sometimes a puzzle just syncs with your brain.
One of my favorite puzzles! Fantastic trick that resulted in a big lightbulb moment. THESHOWMUSTGOON made me think of hockey fights!
@Bryony To my schoolyard ears peg means to hit something hard with a throw - if you missed something you didn't peg it.
The big hint in the center helped me figure out what to do; it wasn't until I got that revealed that I cracked the theme. Fun Thursday. It felt tough although I solved it faster than usual.
@John Same, took me a bit more than 1/3 average solve time. Nicely clued and clever, just on the wrong day.
Fun puzzle, though it was hard, I got through it. I'm wondering if the weekend puzzles have been feeling harder to folks the past few weeks. I've been having a harder time than usual (I usually solve Thursday-Saturday).
Nice puzzle. Total wavelength match
@Nico M Totally agree. Figuring out the key was a big stretch and so fun. I loved it too.
My quibble was that the loops crossed two answers but only applied to one. That might have been a really tough thing to build though! We have a family trip to an amusement park coming up soon, this crossword getting me ready to do loops!
Took me a few days to get through this (have been busy) but I did in the end after some caffeine. A thank you to M. Park for a really fun and challenging puzzle! Just a good all-rounder, very tough with enough wit and pliability to make it work. A+ grade from some random dude on the Internet!
@Francis you gotta get up to get down
Wow, tough solve, but doable. Too many complaints about it being too hard. It was a good workout.
@Dan Also, dunno why MERER bothers people. It's a bit of a stretch, sure, but not a strange one. Seems very crossword appropriate and it didn't trip me up.
@Michael I have, always jokingly, but... I have!
@Cat Lady Margaret How dare you besmirch okra, that much maligned delight. Don't KINKSHAME me!
@SP I loved the theme but I thought a lot of the clues were pretty clunky. But I still agree with you, on the measure, a good puzzle.
@Deb Amlen Godspeed! So long, and thanks for all the fish. Always appreciated your positive take.
I'm late but this was a great puzzle! Just the right level of difficulty for an end-of-weeker. Had to sit and stew on several clues but they all came clear on the end. Thanks for the fun!
@Dave S Right?? How does someone even find the theme answers here, that work with rearrangement, let alone figure out how to build a puzzle around them!
@Jamie A triple quadruple double is still pretty poetic
@Ben Blackwell It's a crossword puzzle.
@Tex read the comment on Comic Book Guy's voice and it gets better.
