Beautiful tribute to your father, Deb. I lost mine before I was four so I envy you! My Mom introduced crosswords to my older brother, but mourning my Dad, didn't with me. My younger daughter brought me to crosswords as she and friends needed the puzzle in college after the subscription ended there. I loved the puzzles and still do. Great Thursday puzzle, Ms. Goldstein and Mr Wagner. Keep working together, please.
Sorry Arjun passed. Spore and the themes make this a great example of young puzzle talent. Adrianne, please continue making puzzles.

My local City PS 40 had a quilter who encouraged us to make quilt squares to remember those lost on 9/11. I quilted with daughters a fire fighter's boots using part of a uniform and another one with a rainbow smbolizing hope. It hang in a upper hallway. @Shari Coats Me, too. Students liked when words rhymed in songs we sang, but the words here they had to moemorize. I challenged them to find the language clues to where we borrowed from. They both loved and hated that. They learned nevertheless, and made me proud. This puzzle was hard and fun. Thanks Meghan Morris for the ride.
@Mike I have a slotted spatula but use tongs so much more. Hmm.
