Nope. Just Nope. Sometimes you can admire the cleverness and hard work of a puzzle constructor, even if the puzzle isn't your particular cup of tea, But this is just a pretty lame gimmick and not a lot more to say. I have tried going around (on my Android tablet) and opening and closing the REBUS function, but it's pretty boring and as or right now, has not achieved any closure. If you like it, well and good. As for me, I never could. See you tomorrow.

If it's true that no one expects the Spanish Inquisition, then certainly nobody expects a puzzle with only ONE rebus square in it. Got the answer almost by accident and then came to enjoy what the setter had done. A Star is Born!

calls to mind the old joke about Macbeth in his castle secure in Act V "Fear not till Birnam Wood Do come to Dunsinane,” Of course in the end the wood does come and (in the old vaudeville version) someone runs out on stage and hollers "CHEESE IT - THE COPSE!"

Toughest Tuesday solve since I can't remember when. Totally missed the "typeface" clues in the theme entries. I had RENTER instead of tenant, TIMON instead of Titus, and am still scratching my head about ETCETERA. Got the famous sprinter from the crossings. WHATDISSAY looked wrong even though it was right. . Felt like a Wednesday. Felt like a HARD Wednesday. But got the music in the end. Whew!

Got stuck with DAD JOKES for 1 down and couldn't bear to let go of it. Thought AM I RITE might have been clued different so indicate the slangy spelling of RIGHT? Happened that a couple of the long ones feel into my lap, and that moved things along. Fun Saturday puzzle. Hurrah!

Well. I had pillow CASE then pillow SLIP and finally came up with SHAM And tennis scoring will forever be a mystery to me. And happily so. The Revealer helped a lot but still had to stare at the theme clues for a while. Scratching my head at SEXER but OK -- its a dirty job but someone has to do it. Quite liked BEAR PAW and the clueing for it. Fun puzzle congrats and cheers to the debut setter.

Another Thursday puzzle that I solved without really understand ing it. Some of the cluing seemed a little strained. "I'm Flexible" comes out as ANY? "Stopover" is INN? But OK. Was fun when the music played and it showed on (on my computer) the squares with the word choices demonstrated. Happy to solve it without cheating and looking at the wordplay blog. and onward!

Apple BROWN Betty was what my aunts made in Connecticut. Never heard them call it just BETTY. Fun to see HENRY KNOX, the Boston bookseller turned artillery genius, get a shout out here. And runway nine? Adding that to my file of interesting trivia. Maybe it will turn up on Jeopardy one night Fun puzzle. Loud Cheers. .

WAY over my poor feeble head - even after reading the explainer in the blog. Anybody who solved this without looking at the blog has my respect. Just made me feel stupid. And not crazy about some of the clueing -- ALLINEED? WAGER? not my kind of puzzle I guess. Leaving it unfinished. See you tomorrow.

OHFERS was new for me -- glad i wasn't the only one.. I am getting used to seeing STAN in the puzzle grid. Had SAUCEPAN and hated to give it up, but so be it. Scratched my head a bit over GESTATE but all's well. For a change in a Thursday puzzle I got the theme right away. TUNNEL VISION and TAYLORS VERSION sealed the deal. Fun challenging puzzle. Well done

Of course being a Warner Brothers cartoon Kid i knew right away who Petunia Pig was stepping out with. And I got PLUM TUCKERED OUT in a burst of inspiration. AWNS was new to me and I had to look twice. LAGER and PORTER are not alternatives to beer they are alternate Names for kinds of beer. But the crossings were kind. ("I have always depended on the kindness of crossings") I wanted the chess octet to be PAWNS and hated to give it up. and Supercalifi - etc etc etc means A ONE, well it means whatever you want it to mean. So OK Fun solve for a Saturday. Congrats to the setter hope to see more from him

Sorry to take issue. We had door to door salesmen in my town who sold Fuller Brush and cleaning supplies door to door ringing doorbells (which is what the clue is going for) That's WAY different from a jobber like Willy who sold wholesale to department stores and other outlets. (Though I don;t think the play ever says exactly WHAT Willy sells). Willy a door-to-door salesman? It's a bit of a stretch

You know a lot of people who solve online like to click on a clue and have the squares be highlighted on the grid. This puzzle it's just hard to know where the heck you are. And it's a BIG grid. Fun Puzzle. Anyone with a smattering of history will get the long ones pretty quickly as I did. A few years ago i tried to work out when the time was that a big city newspaper actually put aa "EXTRA" edition on the stands to cover a breaking story. The Moon landing? The JFK assassination? PORCH as a place to lay out mats and RIPAT as an aid to hearing had me scratching my head though. Any help on those?s

Took a LONG while to wrap my head around the idea that it was OK to have duplicate answers - still not crazy about it. As a computer programmer of long experience i was willing to go along with C SHARP, Microsoft's try at a proprietary programming language , but F SHARP? Never heard of it. Once i had the theme of the puzzle (pretty early) it became a sort of "Where's Waldo" looking for MONICA, looking for JOEY, checking them all off. Scratching my head at REDOUND and also IRAIL - (Remembering my O Gauge childhood - Isn't an IRAIL just a straight piece of track?) but got it in the end. Still watch the show on streaming - still wish i could go down to the coffee shop and hang out with Phoebe and Monica and the gang.
