Not sure what all the complaints are regarding--thoroughly enjoyed this one for a Sunday. I guess everyone has their own experience, and that's ok. Just putting this here so the constructor can see that there are some solvers that had an enjoyable time. Well done!
Wow. Glad some enjoyed it. In my opinion, what a ridiculous and contrived puzzle, too nuanced, and perhaps a tad pedantic and clever for its own sake. Anyways, did not enjoy it. To whom it may concern: I'm allowed to not enjoy it and am exercising my right to say as much. You may disagree, but I don't think that really matters to me. Have a great day!
I loved the puzzle. Despite what others might say, the homonyms make sense in that a cryptozoologist looks for something they is there but actually doesn't exist, like the words might appear to be the mythical creature but actually aren't. Hiding in plain sight! Well done!
I'm not sure how everyone else found this to be easy--pretty challenging for me. Felt like a Thursday for sure. Am I the only one?
Sorry, not sure why--I found theme today particularly annoying and not cute. Otherwise not bad.
DOC for "Grumpy friend" is one of my favorite clues of all-time. Well done. -Dopey
Insanely difficult. No words.
Loved this puzzle. A friendly reminder that though life has downs, it also has ups. Happy Thursday, all.
@Vernon That's exactly what crossword puzzles are supposed to do. What is a crossword puzzle if not the skill of knowledge?
Difficult for a Tuesday in my opinion. So it goes.
The Tuesday-est (perhaps Wednesday-est, all things considered) Monday puzzle ever. Did not enjoy.
Incredible, without a doubt. The spanners, the theme, the clues, the symmetry. Perfect. No notes.
For the life of me, I had SAWWOOD--spent so much time figuring out that quadrant it's about time I SAWLOGS again... Stupid emus
"Deer stalking aid?" might be the funniest clue I've ever seen. Well done.
This will be my last time in the comments section. Far be it from me to assume that this was a place where people could come and share their thoughts about the puzzle without engaging in negative or demeaning behavior. It's a crossword puzzle, after all--and unfortunately the bad apples do ruin the whole bunch when all I want is a way to disengage from the otherwise negative world. Mike, keep the puns going. I'll check back in on them another time.
Yeah... about this one. Swing and a miss, but I'm sure it was enjoyable for others. Slog.
This puzzle was WAY too easy. I can't believe that out of all-- wait. It's a Monday? Carry on. :) (And well done!)
Might be just me but MRS for "Title awarded after a match?" seems a bit disingenuous. Otherwise, really nice puzzle.
I have always maintained--and will continue to do so--that the "poetic" clues are cheap fillers. ETERNE, ERE, EER. Doesn't matter which one it is--we can do better.
Yeah today and Tuesday's should've been switched lol
Great puzzle! FWIW, LOVE TO makes sooooo much more sense than NO VETO. Got a little tied up on that one, and I also wondered what the English had against currency. Happy Sunday!
Definitely a tough one--well done, and well-constructed.
I, too, felt as if I was "going with the flow" the way this puzzle was constructed. Nice and smooth. Great start to the week...happy Sunday everyone!
I love science; I love space--this one was out of this world. Well done!
A fun and challenging Sunday. Well done!
@Chrissy "Cheating" is subjective. I was stuck and had to look them up. If your goal for crosswords is to learn, I don't consider looking as cheating.
Not too crazy about the Bowser cluing for WOOF. Avid Nintendo fan and the name for a dog never once popped into my mind.
We will miss you, Deb! Come back anytime--you'll always be welcomed here!
Wow--not a puzzle for a Monday. Maybe a Wednesday. Not thrilled with this one at all.
For the life of me, if we could have more consistent Tuesday puzzles, that would be great. I understand they are incrementally more difficult than Mondays, but this was a Wednesday puzzle. Seems like this happens every other week for some reason.
This was a good one. However, can we put to bed the three-point TREY clue/answer? Nobody in modern-day sports calls it that. Such a tacky answer.
A forgettable Tuesday if there ever was one.
The right amount of challenge to keep me going. Well done!
@Lewis "Your business start-up?" was such a great clue.
Love the innocence behind "Indianan," gave me a little chuckle. We prefer Hoosier.
"One person’s JETSAM is another’s flotsam, I suppose." Well done, Sam--using this!
Very enjoyable and creative, well done! I wanted LeninGRAD but finally caught on to PETROGRAD--which led me down the right ROAD.
@B I hope you have a good day today considering you seem to have been upset by a crossword puzzle.
The verbiage of 4D threw me off. Well done!
@Barry Ancona Must be nice.
@john ezra Completely missed that! Well done! (I need more coffee...)
LOVED this puzzle. Surprised I didn't see a certain NY Times staffer clue. cc: emu handler
And here I thought I had a great answer for 20A: STINKIER. Alas.
This was an 11:59p Monday puzzle to be sure. Doozy.
Great theme and well done on your debut.
Very enjoyable puzzle to start the week--well done and thank you!
Shoutout to the Hoosier Dome! Lot's of great memories there!
Hung up on the LONGEST time having sENEcA (Falls) in for 18. Well done, and Happy Halloween!
