I have finally, finally learned to put STROP instead of strap for razor sharpener. Join me in celebrating, won't you?!
How could I complete this puzzle and never notice all the clues begin with "B." Wow!
I spent WAY too much time trying to make this puzzle about "Charlotte's Web!"
I haven't done the crossword in a while, but I checked it today just because I'm a fan of Thursdays. I'm glad I did! I thought it was very clever, and I enjoyed the graphics.
I thought this was extremely clever!
Today's score: Puzzle - 1 Scott - 0 Oh, well!
I give the constructor his credit for a fine puzzle. But this one was way over my head. I finally had to come to the blog for the center squares.
A great debut - congratulations to the constructor.
I needed some help, but overall I enjoyed this one. and "My Sharona" made me laugh out loud.
@Francis I'm a fan of Thursday puzzles, but today I perished on the mountain.
Well, that was just fun - although I knew that having a rebus on a Wednesday would cause a lot of comments!!!
OUTROS was a new one for me, but I couldn't find any other solution so I decided it was legit. Overall, a nice puzzle, although I didn't get the theme until I checked the column.
I really like it when I get the "AHA" moment. I really liked this puzzle. Congrats to the constructor.
It was a pleasant enough puzzle for a lazy Sunday afternoon, but I had absolutely no idea what the theme was until I read this column.
I completed the puzzle using the crossings, but still had no idea what the theme was. Then I saw STRIP POKER and it all made sense. I just wish I had realized it earlier!
When you print this puzzle to solve on paper, you don't get the brown shading. So I had no idea what was going on until I came to the blog. Oh, well.
I had no idea there was a theme other than words beginning with the letter A because, right off the bat, I misspelled AERIAL. Oh, well.
This was a lot of fun. I'm upset with myself for Googling to see if "The Big A" was an alternative to "The Big Apple." That, of course, is when I learned of the rebus. My unused rebus detector chided me for doing so.
Very fun and very clever.
Someday I'll remember the difference between STROP and strap. Today was not that day......
I've been away from the puzzle for a variety of reasons, but I made sure to check in today because I like Thursdays. Today did not fail to delight. I'm both a musician and a baseball fan. I thought today's puzzle was great.
I'm curious how many times LSD has appeared in the crossword. It appears so often that you'd think all of America lives in a permanent psychedelic state!
I'm one who prints the puzzle and solves on paper. The printed version today didn't have any italicized clues, so I really had no idea what was going on! Oh, well....
Well, okay. I had to come to the column to get the theme, and even then I had to read it twice!
I've put my rebus radar away for another week.
This made me laugh out loud when I got it - an excellent puzzle.
Does *NSYNC get paid a royalty every time they're mentioned in the puzzle??!!! This was a lot of fun.
A fun puzzle - although YASSIFY was definitely a new one for me.
I eventually got there, but it was a lot of work!
I was literally watching the movie while completing this puzzle! That was fun.
Well, this is two days in a row that I missed the theme - and so early in the week! But, overall, another nice puzzle.
I print the puzzle and solve on paper. Yes, I saw the title. Yes, I highlighted the circled letters. I simply did not get the theme until I read the column.
An enjoyable puzzle, even though my rebus radar was disappointed to not be used again this week.
@Kyle Probably Thursdays only.
@Eileen "80 year" is an abbreviation, as is DDAY.
I needed some help, but overall I thought this was a really nice Friday puzzle.
@Barry Ancona Yes, I realized that later. The “Standard Layout” option is what I always use, though.
@Mtmetz Thanks for the Spiro Agnew comment!
I filled it in without much trouble, but had to come to the column to understand what the theme is.
@MFSTEVE Was about to post the exact same thing.
