I’m a first-time commenter but have been reading and (mostly) enjoying this section for quite a while. Had to chime in today because I LOVED this puzzle! Super-cute and not too difficult for a Thursday. Great job!!
When I was really little, my mom would read me a book called “Emmitt Otter’s Jugband Christmas,” which was later made into a movie directed by Jim Henson. The theme made me smile.
This wasn’t even a crossword. It was some kind of a puzzle with words. I tried to like it but it was too tough for me.
LOVED this puzzle! Exceptional cluing, IMO, and chuckled aloud several times. My favorite answer was to the “struck by lightning” clue. Well done, Ralph! Keep ‘em coming.

@Asher B. Butter BEANs and wax BEANs are popular in the South. I’m a city dweller, but grew up on butter beans and I still love them!
I thought the theme was going to have something to do with Yoda.
There is an excellent brewery near me called Vicious Fishes with an even more excellent IPA called “Here Be Dragons.” Alas, it didn’t help me in the solve. Cheers!🍻

I thought this was really fun! Brought back memories of playing SMB with my little brother, who was a master at it. I needed some crossings before PRINCESSPEACH and BOWSERSCASTLE clicked, as well as some others. Great job, Kim, and thanks for the trip down memory lane!

@ky Decades ago, a Green Beret was accused of killing his family and he blamed it on a group of hippies. There was a book and a movie about it; that’s probably the only reason I had the term in the back of my brain.
