This was a fun and well designed puzzle! It wasn’t a rebus or poorly edited puzzle. The “trick” was literally in the puzzle title. And it came to me from the crosses with ROGUE and IGER. The ———— , which create a LINE, are the only solution. LINE should not be accepted, nor should a rebus. In my humble, average-solver opinion. Happy New Year 🥳
I received a huge hint to 17D. As I was reading it my husband was listening to a story about the release of the new Led Zeppelin documentary. Got it.
Well, that song will be stuck in my head all morning. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Cute puzzle.
Oof, that was a bit tough. And then it wasn’t. And then it was. And then it wasn’t. Good, fun puzzle. I had to look up a couple of the proper names (and now feel out of touch). But everything else fell into place. iMac was my fave 🤩
Fun Saturday. The GAMs got me, though. GAM came with the crossings, but I then went down the blow hole to learn more, who knew? And GAMAY was a lookup, and now added to my “everything I know about wine I learned the NYT crossword” list.
I just had a SHOWERBEER two days ago after working in the Florida heat and humidity for too long. It was more than delicious . 🚿🍺
@Johnny Boy P Check again. You’ve got the across and down back flipped
@Sandy I hope constructors never look at the comments, because there’s no winning with this crowd. This puzzle was very enjoyable and each theme answer made me smile. Happy Sunday ☀️
I really loved this puzzle! It is so clever, and what a grid!! But opportunity lost at 83D, I was really looking for PISH POSH.
@Andrew Butt-dials/ Booty calls is the “Clue of the year” (see comment below), yet you’re offended by Austin Powers?? Make it make sense, they’re both referring to the same idea.
@Phil I went with MND and RNB first. Then tried the rebus, thinking it was a nice little rebus. Nope. Really? Let’s try an ampersand. I think if this were in a big puzzle I would have been frustrated, but I like it in the midi.
