@Shrike I understood it as it is a grift because they have falsely represented the desire for the gifts listed, but truly just intend to return the gifts for money. It's not altogether wrong, but it is misleading rather than simply asking for cash.

Just here to say, I think I got "Lalanne" so easily because I just finished Bonnie Garmus's "Lessons in Chemistry" and this gives me the opportunity to recommend it highly to anyone who has not yet read it. Most likely available at your local public library. Oh - and I was delighted with the theme today. Made me chuckle :-)

Lol - a very close family member is a Gemini, but his birthday is in June. Took me forever because I knew what the answer was, but kept saying "THAT'S NOT SPRING!!!" But - it is! I just always think of June-July-August as summer. Learn something every day, I guess :-)
Will it ever be clear to the tech folks that "if it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it" and that many people do not want your app. We do not want your app. And we do things on a computer because we don't want to look at teeny tiny layouts that mimic an app. This new layout is atrocious. Please give us the option to return to the normal layout where one can actually SEE what one is trying to solve.

@Rahul Using the definition of "corner" as to "force (a person or animal) into a place or situation from which it is hard to escape." And "tree" is a verb here. When you "tree" an animal (like an opossum or a cat), it basically means you've chased it up a tree and then hung around the roots so it can't get down and escape. It's also used to mean putting a person in a difficult position verbally. The OED says this is largely an American usage :-)
Absolutely made my day to see Mr. Alexander and The Chronicles of Prydain in the puzzle! My absolute favorite fantasy series growing up (and tbh, still... :-) And where I first started to explore how wonderful Wales is. Plus don't forget his many other books - Time Cat, Westmark, etc. If your children haven't discovered these yet, give them a try. You might even try them yourself. Thanks, Sarah!
@Kevin They make Reese's cups with Reese's Pieces INSIDE THE CUP! They are the best thing ever, although a bit difficult to find. :-)
I mean, I know the streak isn’t the most important thing, but… Does anyone else have the issue when you put in the final letter, the screen pops up to say you’re done! Gold star! But then it glitches and loads super slow - then when you go back to the main Games page, it shows that you haven’t finished the puzzle? But when you go back to the puzzle it IS finished and can’t “Resume” because it’s done! (This is when solving on my iPhone) Only way is to reload and redo, which then gives the blue star instead of the gold 😤 Probably the third time it’s done this in the past couple of months. I know - first world problems but considering the Times is supposed to be a first class crossword, it’s just irritating enough to give a slight blue tinge to my morning. So the real question - is it just me? 🤷♀️😁
@Laura As a Michigan native who lived in the PNW for many many years, this one's hard for me. Of course I've got to root for my Tigers all the way, but wish we didn't have to beat the Mariners to do it!
I know I shouldn't be bothered by this, but I can't find tech support (this doesn't seem to fall in the purview of "customer care", and am irritated. For not the first time, I completed the puzzle on time, in order, and instead of maintaining my gold star and streak, I have the blue star, and when I go back to the puzzle it acts like I haven't finished it yet. Is there someone to email about this (yes, I know, trivial) issue? It's just one thing that gosh darn it, should just work in this world where so much else...isn't. Thanks!
Whew! With the incessant promoting of solving on the app I was sorely afraid this was done on purpose to force us to use the app. Such a relief!

@Lynn It’s happened most often at my parents’ house where service is nonexistent and the WiFi password has been long forgotten :-). But today it was at home so seemed odd. The last time it happened at the ‘rents I decided to follow Marshall’s zen approach so all good. Was just curious if the streak counter just didn’t like me… 😁
