One of those puzzles where I had very few answers filled in at first but slowly but surely things started to fill in. I really enjoy those types. My favorite answer was Erich for the crypto investor. I had to look at that twice before I got it.
One of those that seemed impossible at first, like for sure I was going to have to look something up, but I kept plugging away and ended up solving it without any help from google. Pretty proud of myself.
A typical difficult Saturday puzzle but imo a fair one.
I guess it just shows how old I am-I was thinking lps or even eps for the old music player. Never cds.
Besides ikebana being crossed with obes, neither of which i knew, I thought this was a fair and enjoyable Sunday puzzle.
One of those that seemed impossible at first and then with continual effort was solved before I knew it. Really enjoyed this one.
One of those that seemed impossible to start with that just kept falling into place. Not a record but well below my average time, but I’m not complaining.
I don’t think I’ve ever “moaned” after eating a decadent dessert.
Anyone who has been to a dentist in the last twenty years knows that you don’t spit anymore.
I thought this was fair and fun-a perfect Friday crossword puzzle.
It took me a little while to figure out the trick but once I did it went pretty quick. I really enjoyed this one.
Took me a little longer than my average time but slowly but surely finished without even looking up the name of the poet. Always a good feeling.
Unlike a lot of other commenters I had no problem with Atwater and Eartha-the only thing I had never heard of was earlaps but it worked with the crosswords so there you go.
@Cat Lady Margaret Actually I read a book by the name of Pockets that goes into history of pockets and one of the things it touches on is why women’s clothes don’t have them. I know it must sound like a pretty boring book but it was really quite interesting
I stubbornly hung onto income for the answer to fixed and net for a long time even though it wasn’t working for the down clues. Once I gave that up I was able to get that corner and the puzzle became much easier after that.
I mean I got it done without much trouble but I thought it was a little difficult for a Monday
Took me a little bit to catch on but once I did I really enjoyed this. One of my favorite Sunday puzzles.
A relatively easy Friday(close to my record time) but I’m not complaining.
Didn’t think it would be when I started it, but it turned out to be pretty easy for a Friday.
A lot of guessing and I had rats instead of nuts at first-once I changed that I got that satisfying congratulations.
One of those where I just kept plugging away, kept coming back to and eventually I had it. Fortunately, I live in Baltimore so I knew 53 across immediately
Unlike a lot of other people, I thought this was cute enough. Not my favorite Sunday puzzle but it was okay.
Took me a while to get the theme but once I did I enjoyed it. I don’t eat much sushi so I had never heard of Alaska roll
Put in dashes to begin with so I had no problem with that. Almost a record time.
My second best time in a row. IMO, a very easy Friday.
Because Monday puzzles are of course usually easy I try to fill in all the blanks just using the across clues. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can’t. Today I could.
I’ve never heard Tyson called kid dynamite
Overall, a good Saturday puzzle(a little easy perhaps) but I wasn’t crazy about do not want as the answer for “hard pass”. I was looking for something a little more emphatic than that.
It took awhile to get going but once I did the puzzle pretty much filled in itself.
Got the gimmick immediately. After that it was just filling in the blanks. I actually look for more that in a Sunday puzzle. For me it was a big “meh”.
Guessed correctly on “utne reader” and had to look up the flour but after that everything just kind of fell into place. A very enjoyable, challenging but not too, Saturday puzzle.
I’ve been a baseball fan my whole life and I never heard anyone “exclaim” it’s a tie. Also never heard of psy-ops. As far as this puzzle being misogynistic-get over it and this is coming from someone who wouldn’t be caught dead in a red hat, if you know what I mean.
My best Thursday time and I have no idea what the trick is.
I liked everything about this puzzle but “weasel words”. That I have never heard.
I didn’t love the clue for 64 across
Took me awhile to catch on to where this was going but once I did I really enjoyed this puzzle
This became a whole lot easier once I figured out the trick. At that point I could put “here” in in the appropriate place which made the down clue more apparent.
I’ve never watched Friends but was aware of some of the names of the characters. This wasn’t my favorite Sunday puzzle but it was cute.
It seems to me that a better revealer clue would have been something more along the lines of “what to do after reading the ends of the starred answers from top to bottom”.
Pretty easy for a Thursday. Got the trick fairly early on. Close to my record time.
@Nancy J. cool, you learn something new every day
I got the rebus pretty quickly. I just think the need for the forward slash made the puzzle clunky. It should have been set up so that once you put it either ie or ei that would have been good enough because at that point you obviously understood the trick.
It took me a little longer than my average but I didn’t find this to be a terribly difficult Saturday puzzle.
Pretty easy Sunday. Close to my record time.
@Jane Wheelaghan I don’t know what PTO as it pertains to a bankable vacation means either. Enlighten me if you now know, please.
Solved some of the italicized clues before I caught on-after that it was a breeze.
@BB I eventually got it but I also was surprised when a ballad was a lay. Never heard of that one.
