This was a Tuesday puzzle!? To that I say BLEH, whatever that means.
Sorry, but this one was not fun.
And now, Hannah can take another seven years off.
I know less than nothing about Mario or Luigi so this puzzle was a slog for me. I am a classic kid, however, and have NEVER heard of a "toy" weapon called a potato gun. Sorry.

I was a full minute longer than my average - and I didn't think it was an overly difficult puzzle. So it must have been one that made me think, which is a good thing .. I'm not even upset with being over.
@DYT I agree with you totally - rebuses should have worked and would have been completely fair.
@NYer in Exile I am right there with you. I had very little enjoyment trying to figure out this puzzle and solve it.
Nice Monday puzzle. The last time anyone actually used the word "HARKED" in any way, spoken or written, was in 1837. I looked it up.
Pondering the clue indicating that a scholar is erudite.

@Nanorama Same with me. I had the correct letters in the rebus but was told "UMNO" and had to try different ways to solve even with right letters. Boo hoo.

More than a minute longer than my usual Monday. I got done in by "ASHAME" (rare archaic word) and "MOMBASA".
