@Jeff P. I thought this was a great, clever, challenging puzzle. You could just say "not for me"
You'd think it would just sink in to the rebus-haters at some point that rebuses (rebi?) have been around forever, many people love them, and they aren't going away. But no, even when there's a single, pretty-easy-to-figure-out rebus, the usual chorus of complaints arises. Let it go already!
@TLC seemed pretty fun to me
@MDB Not a "gimmick," just a regular Thursday trick, and a good one at that, the kind most of look forward to on Thursdays. Keep an open mind, keep trying, and you'll come to appreciate the cleverness and creativity that this kind of puzzle exemplifies.
@Joy Congratulations!
@Barry Ancona Usually enjoy your interjections, Barry, but you're being kinda cranky today
@JC you should just stop doing Thursdays. Many of us enjoy the challenge of the rebus.
@R.J. Smith My wife and I read the comments whenever there's a rebus, just to see all the predictable grumpy reactions. Look, if you don't like them, fair enough, they're not everyone's cup of tea. But clearly lots and lots of people do enjoy them. Why not just accept that sometimes the crossword won't be for you, without all the moaning? Just move on, there'll be another crossword tomorrow!
@SB what was wrong with it?
@jp inframan JP, have you ever had a puzzle in the NYT? Honestly curious.
@Juan totally disagree. fun and just challenging enough for a wednesday.
But @Jay, what about the Jays?
@Terry Ain't no such thing as unnecessarily tricky...
@N.E. Body I dunno, I kinda like brutal.
