As a former chem major, one look at the blank puzzle screamed "water molecule" with the bonds and angles correct. I was happy that was the case. A touch of nostalgia for this retiree.
TIL the pronunciation of nee. Always thought it rhymed with "knee". Saw it in print only. This tidbit was my highlight. Salad and fries? Meh
Old enough to remember and appreciate Fred Biletnikoff playing for the Oakland Raiders. A great receiver known for his use of stickum. Always thought it was a slang term, but because rosin bag and talc obviously didn't fit, I tossed in stickum for 45A as a lark and lo and behold.....
took me a long time to figure out the conceit. didn't think id finish but persistence got me to the finish line. one of the more intriguing Sundays in a while. kudos to the constructors.
@Mean Old Lady I always enjoy your comments and in fact, search them out. We must be of similar age. Having been taught english grammar in grade school, the "less/fewer" errors rankle me also.
I don't understand how "Tahoe runners" equate to computers and therefore Macs. Would someone explain it to me?
I'm a longtime Red Sox fan so I knew the answer to 47D was George "Boomer" Scott. But neither name fit. So when I filled in the correct answer, I thought, who is this guy? Turns out he is a hall-of-famer but played in the NL. Such is my AL bias
I'm old enough to remember "Mean" Joe Greene and the Purple People Eaters, so 37A was obviously the Vikings! When that didn't fit I had rack my brain for "Ravens". They were the "Colts" in Joe Greene's time
@lucky13 Thank you for this post! Important and informative. Gee, the stuff I learn from forum
