Having theater throwaway next to gala throwaway really tricked me! I just couldn't make my brain think of an apple! Fun puzzle!
As a retired profesora de espanol, I loved this puzzle. If I were still working, I would have shared the words with my students inmediatamente! My fave was mas sacred. Gracias!
Every school child in New York State should know the three sisters, crucial in Haudenosonee farming. But bel esprit was a new one for me.
Nice smooth solve...but the military waiting clue..I have not seen sieged as a verb..just besieged?
I LOVED everything about this puzzle.
I enjoyed figuring out the theme entries..very fun. Had a lot of trouble with the northwest at first, but persevered and got it!
What a fun puzzle! With one of my favorite plants..teasel..which had an industrial use in fulling wool. I don't find it invasive at all, rather it is a biennial and difficult to keep in my garden.
A real Saturday puzzle. I got most of the long answers from just a few letters, but struggled with other clues..just right for the day
Quite an easy solve. I get the theme, but just didn't find it as charming as others did...I did like learning that the 1 across phrases were ad libs.
A nice tough saturday. When I had it 3/4 solved, the puzzle went blank and the time reset to one minute, adding extra excitement to the experience. But in about 20 seconds, it refilled. Phew.
Smooth solve except a natick for me was the super model and demo for Alphas. I saw the explanation for demo, short for demographic. ..aah..i get it.
I really enjoyed the puzzle, though I did find it easy for a Thursday. Ahoy was my favorite answer!
Tough for a Wednesday for me..but I persisted. Nice puzzle.
I agree with Deb that it was not a difficult puzzle, but it was fun. Serener, though?
I truly enjoyed the puzzle..I solve Sundays in the real paper, but after reading the comments in the blog, I looked at the solution online too...even more fun!
I too found it difficult for a Monday...but an enjoyable puzzle. Also had trouble with hundo and Dae..and I don't find aluminum foil crinkly?
A clever puzzle. Perhaps because I am "over 55" myself, I found it much easier than the usual Thursday.
Excellent puzzle! Great to maintain brain flexibility!
Maybe it's just that opening day is so soon, but this felt like a nice baseball puzzle to me.
I really enjoyed the puzzle. After reading the comments, I am glad I do the Sunday puzzle in the print version, so I figured out the jackpot on my own!
I also enjoyed the puzzle, but found it pretty easy for a Saturday.
Whew. I didn't look anything up, but used check word. So hard.
Enjoyable puzzle. Mimi was my favorite answer.
Very enjoyable and accessible. My favorite was 103 across!
Even though I got the revealer early on, it took me a shockingly long time to figure out the rebuses. Very neat.
Neyo and coney crossing.....?!
A Monday puzzle for me. I have made quilts, but would never call one a blanket...just saying. A coverlet or a quilt.
Made me laugh out loud! A great release after reading the news!
I am always happy to have my Spanish-speaking help me. I found most of the answers accessible, but there were a few toughies, as mentioned elsewhere. I didn't notice the typo in 48 across until mentioned in another comment.
The penny dropped on the rebus for me at "unhand me".. a fun and relatively easy puzzle!
A quick and fun puzzle..I found it a bit surprising to find Travis Kelce among the historical figures. I tried to think of a Western lawman as the answer..like Wyatt Earp...but of course that was the wrong length.
I enjoyed the puzzle, and struggled a bit with St. Anthony, but ended up finishing 10 minutes faster than my usual time. I guess I must have been on the author's wave length.
All good and fun except for the nw corner for me.
Nice smooth solve. Theme answers accessible for non math people..except the SW was tricky for me...
A tough one for me..several trivia I didn't know and the crosses didn't quite do it. But it is Saturday and I expect to be challenged!
A fun puzzle..clever fill..but pretty easy for a Saturday
@Marshall Walthew in our animal game, 5 points for a white horse and 100 points (an automatic win) for a cat on a windowsill.
Cute and a pretty easy solve!
@Henrik I am in the US and didn't know either...I ended up only needing the first letter of the director, so I guessed! Otherwise a fun puzzle!
Unusually for a Friday, I just worked straight through from top left to bottom right, able to fill most everything in as I went..so easy for me for a Friday, but very enjoyable.
I finished the puzzle...was not really on the writer's wave length, so I found it difficult. And I only saw the theme when I read the blog. .very dense of me, I fear.
I really enjoyed the theme. And there were a number of clues with several good answers ..like 102D...but also a bunch of crosswordese..like otoe, tot, aver...I guess because the theme was so demanding. That said, really fun to do!
All smooth and fun until southeast corner..a couple of crosses were just naticks for me. And having pastor instead of parson didn't help!
Incogmeato and ogs? Newts?
I figured out what I had to do to solve the puzzle quickly, but not why until I read the blog! Dense of me, but I enjoyed the puzzle nevertheless.
Fun puzzle. It took me a shockingly long time to see the first city, but once I did, the others were obvious!
A fun puzzle. Is a crisis a catastrophe??
@CCNY I was told the robot thing in the middle of reading the paper this a.m., but I just went on to another article..some sorry of glitch, I guess.
Sea monster and one was a natick for me..otherwise a smooth solve.
