Cute theme, but some frustrating crosses. TIMON and NERTS? OSRIC and ASLAN?
Bleh. This needed more time on the drawing board.
Woof. I love a challenging Friday, but this was a total slog. Loads of weak proper nouns and gross fill. See you all Saturday!
Please, please do not put that awful Liberty Mutual ad in my brain ever again. I beg you.
Maybe the best puzzle I've seen all year. Really impressive construction, right level of difficulty for a Tuesday, great revealer and FOUR fifteen letter entires? And no Ys?
Great puzzle. I learned something and I had fun! Isn't that all we can ask for?
One of those puzzles you do, and go "huh. Wonder what that theme was?"
Total delight of a puzzle. The sign of a good theme is when I chuckle under my breath loud enough for my girlfriend to ask what is so funny from the other room.
This would've been much more clever if there wasn't 3-4 naticks :/
Really great chewy Friday. Wasn't a stumper but lots of little epiphanies and joys tucked throughout the grid. Happy Friday, and solidarity to all those participating in the general strike in my city today.
FOOTREST for Dog park? Is my favorite clue in weeks. Hilarious.
Sage colored sage made me chuckle. Great theme too. More puzzles about mediocrity!!
a classic Thursday slog. Should've been left in the editor's room.
Phenomenal blend of cluing and theme, total delight.
Perfectly envisioned Wednesday. A good challenge, an AHA! theme and some great clues. Loved the one for ETRE.
Delightful. Read the themed entries what felt like a hundred times while laying poolside. Had exactly one (1) drink and it all came to me! AC/DC broke it open for me. Could say it shook me all night long!
Blown away to see the OOOOOs at the end line up. What a clever theme and amazing execution.
Great flow to this. A nice steady engaging quarter hour tonight. Always felt like I was working but never frustrated.
Finished the puzzle, looked, scratched my head and had a "DOH" moment! Really cute theme and construction. Any crossword with Minnesota icon Mitch Hedberg is a win as well.
Solved much of this without the theme and had my "AHA" moment with HEARTTRANSPLANT. Good fill, great theme. Excellent puzzle!
Some really gross fill in the middle. This one needed a bit more time in the oven to finish baking.
great, really clever construction. I adore a puzzle that has a distinct epiphany.
Really phenomenal debut. Made me laugh, snicker, and go read more of Ebert's reviews. Looking forward to more from this constructor!
Great intro rebus for new solvers. Cute theme and no yucky fill. Easy for a Wednesday? Sure, but it was a blast :)
Robyn the GOAT! Love her puzzles. The right intersection of challenging and fun.
Lots of clues that delighted me today. STUFFYNOSE was my personal favorite. Got a bit hung up with ACER thinking it was ICER, like a hockey player who flings the puck past you. Must by the Minnesotan mindset getting to me!
Thanks for sharing that lovely story about your father Deb. Thinking of you during what must be a very challenging last few weeks. I hope you can find solace in his passing, knowing he's at peace.
As a 3L, the revealer brought great dread. Flashbacks to torts! Great puzzle and excellent theme.
Had TIRE for TALE which tripped me for a bit. Liked this one a lot! Had to slowly work my way through. Bummed that the Wordplay column didn't feel the same.
Great puzzle! Good clues and a clever theme. Made my Monday night :)
Enjoyed the variety of this one immensely. Smacked my forehead once I understood the theme. Great debut!!
As a person born in WNY, no one has ever called someone that!
Really delightful. Lots of good "aha!" moments and clever cluing.
Good debut! TUPLES and PURIM crossing held me up for awhile.
Really amazing puzzle. Hit that perfect flow state of challenge and skill - by no means a PR, but cluing was sharp and it was a blast!
@Catherine W. Iambs are a way to measure in poetry!
@Jackson Thought I had commented this for a minute. LOL.
@Ben TAJ and JAMON had me stumped. This was overall one of my least favorite of the year.
