So, I went through all the comments to see how many other people tried to fit POPWARNER in 9 Down before catching on to the theme. Just me, then? I’m not a basketball fan, but enjoyed the construction and clueing. Not my fastest or slowest Thursday, but I had fun.
So, as a daily lurker but rare commenter in these parts, I read all the comments sure that someone else would ask the question on my mind. As no one did, I shall. Do you all actually WEAR mosquito nets?
Am I the only one to think that the shot taken in the dark basement might be romantic rather than alcoholic?
@Matt I loved all those games. My favorites were Leather Goddesses of Phobos and the text adventure version of Hitchhiker’s Guide. I’m happy they’re still on the internet.
@Dan Perhaps OREO have adopted LEGO as their/its role model?
@Red Carpet I emailed Support about it. Apparently, they think it’s an improvement. Everybody please write in with your thoughts - email is at the top of the comments page.
@Cat Lady Margaret 20A Especially as performed by Kevin Kline and Sam Rockwell
“not my color” lol Do emus like puns on a Tuesday morning?
@Steve L I see what you’re saying, but I don’t think of a veil as a net. It was a clever clue. (Do emus suffer from bug bites?)
@Michael B. I’m old. I was thinking of him and his daughter Clementine.
@Marshall Walthew While I enjoyed Cloud Atlas, I’ve always compared it to Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Years of Rice and Salt, which I prefer. That may simply be because Robinson’s book came out earlier and I read it first. I also appreciate the alternate history angle (it posits a world in which the Black Death wipes out most Europeans) and getting to experience the reincarnations through the eyes of multiple characters. That said, any book that makes you think is good.
@Dave Stein I’m currently 3 emails deep in conversation with the support bot about this, hoping for an eventual human response. I’m expecting something along the lines of “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature”. Yes, I know how to open a web page from my browser. But adding the option in the app would be so easy. Let us, in a secular and ecumenical manner, pray.
@Elaine The comments are now in an itty bitty non resizable window, where one can read them one, or in some cases, half, at a time
