Canniest for instance has to be one of my favorite clues ever!
I don't know if it's just me, but I'll put it out there in case it's not. I can't stand the "totspeak", "child speak", etc clues. It seems like they're just used when we need to throw some letters together and call it a word.
Really didn't enjoy this one. There was so much I have never heard of, and couldn't get there with the crosses. I love Sundays because they're bigger and reasonably challenging, but this felt closer to a big Saturday for me 😕
I thought this was way too hard for a Tuesday. With the theme, more like a Thursday.
Anyone else take note of Hoda Kotb? Just announced she's leaving Today!
I was about to throw in the towel several times. But then the rebus theme dawned on me and I ran with it! Thursdays have become my favorite :) I usually have to look up a few answers, but I always to figure out the "trick" without coming to Word Play first! Great puzzle!
Oooof this was tough, too hard for me to enjoy. But there were a few fun clues I really liked!
I love this trick, so clever!! The cluing for me difficult, but not so much the theme. Fun Thursday!
Really fun! I was confused as to why some of the penciled in words were correct, and some were not. And then it all came together :)
Wow, this was one of my fastest Fridays, with no lookups at all. What a nice surprise!
Oh my goodness, I was smiling to myself thinking what a wonderful friend Arjun is to believe in you and push you, and then that gut punch at the end - I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories with all of us! I really enjoyed this puzzle. I got very stuck at the bottom, but all the clues were fun enough that I didn't get frustrated about it. Thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you!
I don't know if I'm getting that good, or they've been relatively eaiser the past week or two, but I'm loving it! Still challenging, but I'm able to complete the whole puzzles with maybe just one or two lookups. (And then I get bold and go back and do Fri/Sat from prior years and come back down to earth quickly lol)
Fun puzzle! Getting the theme early-ish helped me with quite a few of the other clues.
@dutchiris happiest of birthdays to you!!
@Jim they're very common crosswordese
Very cute puzzle! I didn't even notice the Os until the animation ☺️ Really enjoyed this one!
I JUST realized it's Thursday lol! I thought, man, this is difficult for a Wednesday! I thought this is on the easier side of a Thursday though, nice puzzle.
I did really well on time and didn't have to look anything up today! A nice challenge, and I feel like the constructor and I were on the same wavelength lol
Wow....that was way too difficult for a Wednesday. As a FRIDAY-level puzzle, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and especially Mr. Offerman's and Ms. Iverson's commentary! I don't remember the last time I had to give up and look at the answer key on a Wednesday....ouch.
Best wishes to you Deb!!
@Byron 2014 and 2003 have the same calendar year as 2025 :) I've been doing the corresponding day from each year.
Lots of fun clues today, thank you!
PR for me! I got the theme pretty quickly, but it was still fun :) Nice one after I struggled through yesterday!
Fun theme! It was pretty easy and enjoyable for me. I solved on Android app and didn't put anything in the T boxes and it finished no problem for me.
I love the theme!! Lots of fun clues, and a couple pockets of hard ones that I just couldn't get a hold! Thank you ☺️
@Marlene I've never heard of it either, and consider myself reasonably knowledgeable of fabric types. I'll have to remember this one!
@cameron that's what I thought at first as well!
@Francis I thought the same thing!! Very clever clue from the constructor!!
@Eric Hougland Oh hi! I recognize your name from the FB group :)
@Jack agree! It was a nice surprise today, especially after some pretty easy ones this week.
@Violet this was more challenging for a Sunday in my opinion! (I'm sure plenty disagree lol). I think the rebus a bit unexpected for a Sunday, but was nice and approachable, so it was extra fun.
Alright, this took me wayyy too long lol! I solved the puzzle, but had no clue, even after reading the column and some of the comments - I was trying to "spoonerize" the answers vs the clues, which made zero sense of course! A comment where someone mentioned "cattle barriers" is what finally did it for me. I went back to look and love it now!
@Darren I came here for 48D as well lol. I've never heard that word used that way! But your comment cleared it up for me :)
@Ken I'll never know my PB for Thurs-Sat, because when I started solving, I would just give up and look at the answer key and fill them all in :( But today was pretty quick for me!
Yay Andrew!! This was a tough one, but lots of fun cluing!
@Kaitlin I had to sit and think on this one when I was done with the puzzle. Once it clicked, I thought it's so cute! I was trying to figure out what STU has anything to do with an RV park too lol
I have his book in my "want to read" on goodreads! Guess I better get on it :)
