Thank you, Mr. Werfel, for a DELIGHTful Tuesday romp.
@SBK It's "an I". Twistier has an extra "I".
I thoroughly enjoyed both the faux rebuses and the more challenging solves along the way. This is the rare Sunday puzzle where the given theme ("Double Duty") actually helped me figure out the gimmick early on, and what a delightful gimmick it was! Kudos for the fine construction.
Never have I ever seen "station" abbreviated to "STN". Looking online, I now see that that form is common in amateur radio, aviation (is there such a thing as an "airplane station"?), and armed forces--fields with which I have little to no intersection. Otherwise, a fairly challenging puzzle, somewhat fun, but a tad cutesy for my taste.
I found the surface on this one very tough to crack, but once I did, it ran like water. Somewhat annoyed that I've gone above my averages for three days in a row, but this one was probably more about me than the puzzle itself. Excellent, fun solve.
@Ombeady Interesting. The iOS app let me enter that rebus long before I finished the puzzle.
My streak seems to have taken a hike three days ago. I have all gold stars for the past week, but tonight I noticed that my former streak of 140-something has been reduced to 3. Can someone check/restore it?
@Bruce Down to the *individual boards*?
