People love it when a crossword is themed around movies, food, books, plays or sports, but video games? apparently that's enough to send everyone into a tizzy. Everyone outside of America has to work through also sorts of American-centric questions every single crossword, but one single crossword outside of your wheelhouse has people complaining? NYT wants the crossword to be a global and universal experience and that includes video games. Use this as an opportunity to learn about something new.

Absolutely incredible construction. Was an easy solve but I can't imagine the amount of work that went into making this all work. Was impressed the whole time.
@Barry Ancona last weeks theme was the 13 colonies, there are 340ish million people in the United States, Mario has sold 900 million copies. Much less niche.
Extremely US centric which goes against the NYT games crew repeatedly stating that they want their games to have global appeal.
I refuse to believe that this is the first time that DONER has been in the crossword.
RAM isn't storage and also The Stooges aren't Iggy Pops backing band, Iggy Pop is a part of the Stooges. Also is Plebs accurate for Caesar? I feel like that's off as well.
@Heidi RAM is very specifically not storage, it's memory.
@CB Iggy & The Stooges is the band name, he's in Iggy & the Stooges, there's a very big specific difference between a solo act with a backing band and a band. The Stooges never backed up Iggy on any of his solo tours.

Fully need someone to explain WOAH to me, was stuck on that one for ages and several times tried to think of internetisms for "woah" specifically in the process
