Very difficult for me. I simply was not on the constructor's wavelength. Felt like there wasn't enough intrinsic fill to get the gears going and I had to turn to Ms. Corbin much earlier than I like. Fair game, and I'm not complaining, but this was HARD.
Is there a way to search the archive by constructor? I've never seen anything less than wonderful from Robyn Weintraub, and this is no exception!
Love the puzzle! I got the theme very early on and I think I just kind of clicked with the constructor. Wonderful Wednesday!
Very good puzzle overall, but I bristled at rowdy as a noun as well. That one clue added minutes and frustration to an otherwise lovely solve.
Loved the theme and there were some very fun clues. But the big stretches, changed this from a nice solve to a slog. ESPIAL and NOISOME were particularly unenjoyable.
@Steve L as a very infrequent commenter that did not enjoy this puzzle, I find your baseball analogy telling. For some solvers, it seems, they view the constructor as an adversary-like a hitter and pitcher on opposing teams. The constructor’s goal is to get you ‘out’ through the use of obscure, inscrutable, frustrating and even specious cluing. The solver’s goal is to ‘beat’ the constructor. This may be fun for many, but it is not fun for me.
Great puzzle! I'd like to repeat my request to enable a feature to search the archive by constructor.
@MsBee think Solfege. Sol is a NOTE, Luna is not
