Jimbo
New York City
So many proper nouns and obscure trivia (unless you’re on EQ’s wavelength). More of a slog than a joy today for me, I’m afraid.
Wow! D**ficult & elegantly constructed theme.
They snuck in at 30D!!!
Nice theme. Reminds me of the year I got small Jarlsbergs as a stocking filler: Holey baby cheeses!
Very clever theme and expertly executed. Let’s hear it for the Beaver State!
Absolutely hilarious puzzle. First one to make me laugh out loud in a long time. Much appreciated, Erik! “Whyyyyyyyyyy? My only son!”
Nice theme but too many proper nouns, brand names and Disney characters for my liking. Bordering on a Natick city. 🥺
@Mike If you remain upbeet, you’ll be raddishing to others.
Got it done but, oh my!, that was Nattick City and I’m the mayor. I much prefer language- as opposed to trivia-based crosswords.
Wow! Amazing crossword with such a tight and well-executed theme!
Straightforward Friday. 13:32. Thanks for a lively fill. I like your style of noting down interesting things you hear on the street for your word list.
Really lively theme with good misdirection in the clues. Nice job and thank you, Joseph!
Oof! Lots of quite specific trivia relating to growing up in the 90s US, and pseudo-Natticks, rather than more standard cryptic Friday clues with dictionary-word answers. Examples such as 1D, 3D, 31A., 40A. You can’t please all the people all of the time, I suppose!
Tough but fair. Nice wordplay theme with solid theme answers. OMNOMNOM!
Very tight theme and satisfying fill. I got the trick of the theme from the shorter-than-needed cross entries and the rest of the crossword filled itself. TIL the IRL meaning of the revealer phrase. :)
Nice puzzle and sorry to hear about the Night Beasts eating your pepper plants. Do you have an Emu-proof fence? In closing, President Reagan warned us about a 2D 10A. I thank you.
And they’re back for a second day in a row at 121D. This time as a pair!
Clever theme and elegant construction. But tedious fill experience, to my mind. Just one to get though in order to keep the streak alive.
Great puzzle But I did think that the CHURROS would need SUCAR to help SCARF them down. 😉
8:45. Fun, tight theme and lively clues/fill today. Thanks for a great puzzle, Dan!
@Jenny H They’re a Detroit thing. Took me a minute to get the right answer as “chilli” dog and “curry” dog didn’t fit. Curry fries, anyone?
Nice, tight theme. Deduct 1 star for lots of brandname fill and a fair bit of crossword glue. Could we re-up the dictionary with dictionary words? Looking forward to seeing how RC develops on her constructor journey. 👍
Wow! What a tight theme and great fill. Thanks, David, for a super Thursday, and thanks, Deb, for a solid explainer!
Wow! What a tight theme and great fill today. Thanks, Dylan! Almost all dictionary fill. Limited brand names. Nicely done.
TEAS UP? Or a case of SPILLED TEA?
8:06 today. Mixed up letters in the Amazonian fish (NH/HN) and the actress (EI/IE). Face palmed, then saw the light on the crosses and recovered. Nice theme today. Very enjoyable set of theme solutions and wordplay. 👍😬😎
Very nice stacks & super debut. Slight Natick for me at 30A x 22D but given those great stacks, I can’t complain.
Pores are on your nose. You pour over a puzzle. 48 Across: A bad case of homophones.
