Meh. Not a huge fan of quotation puzzles and having never read the original poem today's theme did nothing for me. I didn't find the fill particularly interesting either.
ENISLE feels like a stretch
SUFFER is a pretty apt clue for a Sam Ezersky puzzle
Didn't like that in some of the themed clues the illustration was spelled correctly (e.g. CAPE, TRAY) while in others it was phonetic (e.g. NIT, PY). Wasn't a fan of the fill either (ARDENCY, really?). Sunday continues to be the worst puzzle of the week.
Got the gold star in 12:22 to extend my streak to 365 days!
Pretty fun but I lost a ton of time thinking WEST needed to be read backwards to solve the clue
I've never heard anyone call money KALE before
Anyone else want 1A to be POKERFACE?
This November is not the time for a PROTESTVOTE
Too many esoteric answers crossing each other to be enjoyable
Finished below my average but this felt hard for a Wednesday. High dudgeon?
11D crossing two naticks at 24A and 33A took the wind out of my sails at the end. Had to just put random letters in until I got the Gold Star.
OH JOY, another Sam Ezersky puzzle. HEADBUTTing a wall sounds more fun IMO
Hit a 500 day streak with this one!
LIMN and ABYSM belong in a Friday or Saturday, not a Wednesday.
Really liked the cluing for MELEE and PEACHEMOJI
This was a classic Sam Ezersky puzzle, which reminded me that I don't like Sam Ezersky's puzzles. The theme was okay but I the fill was EH.
Finished in 2:51 for a new Monday personal best!
What a breath of fresh air after last week
Started out fast but definitely had to ARMWRESTLE to see the BIGPICTURE in the SE corner. Good Friday!
Trickier than the usual Tuesday but well constructed
Absolutely loved this grid! Looked intimidating at first but fell into place fairly quickly
NYT seems to be in its ERAS era with how often its shown up recently
RIP Vertex. You will be missed
Hardest puzzle in weeks! Had eRIE instead of ARIE and have never heard of TARAROAD before so I didn't get the music after filling in the grid. The title made me think there might be some gimmick I missed but the column didn't say anything; luckily the comments came in clutch and saved me streak!
As someone who is not a fan of Star Trek, this was a slog
Fun puzzle! Shoutout to Letterkenny for teaching me the word DONNYBROOK
That was a lot of proper nouns
Once I figured it out, I assumed a lot of people wouldn't like this theme and the 400+ comments did not disappoint. I thought it was fun without being overly challenging and finished in just under 12 minutes.
Surprised to see all the negative nancys in the comments. The theme was clever without being too difficult and the fill was pretty forgiving.
Cool theme! Had hAZE instead of DAZE at first which slowed me down a bit
I thought the theme was clever but it's tough to suss out if you're not current with your currencies. Crossers were fairly generous, though I thought the SE was somewhat tricky. Far from the worst Thursday I've done but not particularly memorable either.
Comment section is ABUZZ with haters today but IDSAY this was pretty good for a Sunday, took me about 17 minutes to get the gold star
This definitely made up for how easy the last few had been. I had HIP instead of HEP and BERLE was way, way before my time so I had to check the column to finish, but the streak remains intact.
Pretty easy for Friday. Never knew OLIVEs were controversial on pizza
the NW corner was brutal for me but managed to solve it with no lookups. overall felt more like a thursday
Great puzzle. Flowed through the top half pretty smoothly while the bottom half took some time to tease out.
Had to consult the column to understand the theme but otherwise enjoyed this one. Particularly liked the crossing of EVE/EDENS
BEYONDPARODY is very fitting these days
Some tough trivia for a Wednesday and I wasn't a fan of the singular rebus. Hopefully tomorrow's puzzle is better
Pretty fun challenge! NW was the last to fall for me
More challenging than the typical Tuesday but I enjoyed the theme
Eh, didn't really do it for me. I'm right on the cusp of millenial/Gen-Z and never had to read any Morrison in school so I only got the "theme" from the crossings which were easy but not particularly exciting or interesting.
had to look at the column but eventually got the gold star. didn't particularly enjoy the fill here
Much better than yesterday's
More difficult than the typical Monday. The TWA/ARBOL natick was tough
Had some fun misdirects without being overly difficult! NW was the trickiest part for me.
Fun puzzle with a few good misdirects. Wanted PAPARAZZI for 1A
Got the theme without too much trouble but the fill was hard for an early week puzzle. Not bad per se, but not a good Tuesday.
Certainly one of the puzzles of all time.
