@Mel the problem is it’s arbitrary. You could make up any rebus rule and apply it to a puzzle, but without a revealer or a clever wordplay trick it’s just pointless.
Excellent excellent puzzle! Brilliant misdirects and cryptic clues, and fun long entries. Bravo!
Thought for sure 57A was going to be CARBEQUES. Not a real thing but it sure fit!
