@Mel the problem is it’s arbitrary. You could make up any rebus rule and apply it to a puzzle, but without a revealer or a clever wordplay trick it’s just pointless.
Thought for sure 57A was going to be CARBEQUES. Not a real thing but it sure fit!
@Brendan frustrated me no end! Clue could have easily been “How many states begin with B”. Come on editors!
Am I missing something, or did the creator think their puzzle was being published on the 4th of *July*, not June???
