enjoyed the theme and didn’t so much mind the fact that the puzzle refers to artists as paintings, but honestly so many aspects of this puzzle weren’t thought through properly. i filled in a bunch of artist names based on crosses before figuring out the conceit of the puzzle and then had to scour the puzzle to find the names again to try to figure out what the missing letters were, why not have both clues refer to each other? add to that multiple naticks and a rebus that doesn’t work both ways and the solving experience was just frustrating

last time i did the sunday (last week? two weeks ago?) there were squares that didn’t work both ways and people in the comments were telling those of us who were annoyed that a rebus doesn’t have to work both ways and this week i’m being told in the comments i should know that it would be completely inappropriate for the puzzle to accept LINE since it wouldn’t work both ways and all i’m saying is a little consistency would be nice!

@The X-Phile i can only speak for myself, but honestly spending over 7 minutes of my life scrutinizing every single letter of the puzzle thinking i made a typo or a mistake only to find out i didn’t put me in a bad mood! seems like i’m not the only one whose experience of the puzzle was overshadowed by what is essentially an arbitrary coding decision, so i really don’t see how people taking a second to provide feedback is a sign of the decline of humanity

@WindowBlinds THE ARGO also would have fit, which is the actual name of the ship in some of the texts relating to the thought experiment!
