In a word: horrid. In three words: just plain horrid. Huge thumbs down for nearly all these wretched clues. And an huge Booby (ha!) prize for the antiquated idea expressed in the clue that led to this absurd answer— FEMININE SIDE. Come On! (to quote our President) it’s 2024. Seriously? Help me!

I wholly agree with Rex Parker’s opinion of this puzzle. Always check out his blog to cheat on the areas I find maddening like that Land of Nod section where RINO OHHI and AHAS show up. Read his post on this puzzle for legitimate criticism of lazy clueing and a lack of understanding of terminology used. I saw the title of this puzzle and thought: Not another Battleship game rip-off. It was close. And I can’t let this one go by…. COMESAC? Inane frat boy humor leaking into the puzzles now? What’s next? Penis shaped grids?

@Paul. Bingo! I was convinced PAOLO was correct. Nope. So I fixed the errant O. Many thanks!

@Mean Old Lady While I find this curmudgeonly comment slightly amusing and pity anyone who never read kids books (even when they were a kid) I commiserate about the “cultural” references in these crosswords that are supposedly popular or universal. I know nothing about rap music or professional sports athletes and have no desire to learn about either. I routinely cheat on all those ridiculously frequent clues. So one man’s meat…as usual.

@Jane Wheelaghan RA is a term that is exclusively used in the US. Anyone who’s been to a college in the US and lived in a dorm would know the term. Also you should know that these puzzles are almost exclusively created by college educated US citizens for the same audience. Many of the new puzzle constructors are actually college age students. I would never complain about UK terms if completing a London Times crossword.

Do living in the Games app. I have this 100% correct but the software will not trigger as solved. No letters are incorrectly entered. What am I forgetting to do? Tried typing letters in the tree boxes. Won’t let me. Any ideas what I did wrong?
