@Sam I didn't enjoy this puzzle either but to your point, the answers have two parts and one of of them is a nod to the backward nature of the clue... BACK, RETRO, FLIP, etc. Its still an eye roll of a gimmick though.

Missed a new best time for a Thursday puzzle because I entered HOLE for the O's and it wouldn't take. Is there a rebus rule that it has to work in both directions?
