I may just quit doing Thursday puzzles after this mess of puzzle. This puzzle is the exact opposite of what I want from a crossword...
The gathering clouds clue is not that great. This is not really why I want to do crosswords...
Chance and chants are not the same phonetically. There is not a "t" sound in chance. There is in chants. This is poor construction.
More like a Thursday puzzle...
This was one of the least enjoyable puzzles that NYT has had in months. The ATEN is an absolute joke. I still don't understand ANS. Does it mean "answer". This is so horrible. Will Shortz we expect more from you...
EVO seemed obscure to me.
This was actually EVEN EASIER than most Monday puzzles...
Wow, this was a fun puzzle! One of my favorites of the year. This was a perfect combination of everything I look for in crosswords.
I kid you not, the NW corner was tough!
The bottom right was WAY hard. (MISS M, OLETA). This is almost not right for a Thursday puzzle (also considering the difficulty of the rebuses).
Certainly the easiest Saturday puzzle in a while.
HOKA seemed a bit obscure.
Better than most Sundays! The rebus was actually fun!
ASMR is obscure. Probably not quite right for a Monday...

Great Puzzle. However, the LONS clue was an absolute disgrace. Firstly, the name Lon is not very common. Secondly, depending on where you live, "lawn" and "Lon" are not even homophones.
Puzzles like this make me want to cancel my subscription. Will Shortz can you please do your job!
48 Down was really the only bad clue/answer in this puzzle (HITOUT). Sort of easy for a Friday. It almost felt like a Wednesday...

Yes, I realize that deep dish pizzas are made in a pan. But, today's clue seems a bit off to me. Pans are typically not deep (pots are deep).

What do "notes" have in common with "tones"? This was really really disappointing...

@Pat Engel, the bottom down clues correspond to the upper down clues.
Too easy for a Thursday. I filled it in with ink with no errors (hard to do on a typical Thursday).
Lois Lane is not just a movie thing. This made no sense.
@Jon, there are no major or even minor problems with this puzzle! Yes, flawless!
@Tradcarp, not exactly baby talk. Some adults actually call them sammies. Still not my favorite clue...
CREEL sems a bit archaic. I still got it though...
