What you need to know:... Let's play... What you need to know:... Let's play... What you need to know:... Let's play... What you need to know:... Let's play... What the NY Times developers need to know... I don't need the same annoying pop-up every time I open the app or when I switch back from another app or after I complete the puzzle and open the app to give you feedback. The puzzle itself was fun, minus the annoying pop-up.
Interesting theme and fun revealers that were almost entirely pointless. With no clear indication of where to use the "bonus" clues, so it was a case of "Guess what I'm thinking". It wasn't until after the solve was completed that we got the "Tada. Here's where you were supposed to see a connection.". Meh. I blame the editors more than the creator. Circles or different shading or some other visual clue would have elevated the solving experience.
People are talking about the Y symbolizing Andy with his arms stretched overhead in celebration after crawling through the sewer. I think if you hold the entire puzzle at arms length and squint at it that it looks a face with up stretched arms as well.
It's frustrating when poor work on the editorial side interferes with an otherwise fun puzzle. I had both letters entered into the rebus squares and spent a long time looking for errors before replacing the squares with a single letter to get the "congratulations". Do better.
