Great puzzle! Small note about the wordplay column though: Roti, chapati and paratha are SOUTH asian flatbreads, not east asian.
@Laura To intelligence agencies. "Assets" is common lingo for spies.
Am I the only one who thought of TURKEY IN THE STRAW as the iconic ice cream truck jingle?
@David as a fellow marching band nerd, I was similarly stymied. Apparently the non band nerds think we make oom PAH sounds (or at least the sousaphones do)
@Desert Dweller they gave you the country whose currency results in the modified answer. So to say that there was "no cluing for the modified answer" is just plain wrong.
Anyone else confidently put down OBOE for musician's pitch? Too many years in orchestra I suppose.
Good puzzle, thought provoking but a quick solve once you saw (through) the misdirects!
@Heg Every sunday has a title, it's in the "info" tab (as always)
@Janine they thought DELE needed to be clipped as an abbreviation of delete, not realizing that DELE is specific editing jargon (nor did I)
@Eric Hougland lol I did that at first too!
@Daryl what profanity are you talking about?
@Juan Fedorable if you're playing on the website, the title is clearly stated. If you're playing in app, the title appears on the Info screen (the encircled lowercase i ).
Fun puzzle! Got lost in the NE with bILLIONAIRE and dali, but managed to find my way to the VICTORY LAP.
@Ned S you can feed ammunition to firearms and weaponry. In this case, you are feeding TSHIRTs to the TSHIRT cannons.
Fantastic setting and cluing, a fun breezy Monday. Really enjoyed the theme as well. Off to the gym myself for leg day!
Fun puzzle! PushupBRA had me over a barrel until I corrected it.
@Eric Hougland that IS what rice milk is.
Fun puzzle, the ADLER/ADLAI bookends were a nice touch and gave me some trouble, not knowing either. But finally managed based on crosses.
For 15A: both readings of the clue would apply to our good friend Archimedes!
@Heidi to be clear, Perez IS the king of mambo, and this is a slight error from the constructors/editors.
@MFSTEVE I didn't know the album either, but surely you're familiar with 24K as a concept (gold purity). Alternatively, you can just count the Ks once the rest of the grid is filled in.
Had naticks with ALCOA and STANTHONY, but got there in the end. Btw, ninths refers to those decimals being ninths of 1, e.g. .33333 is theee-ninths.
@Bill in Yokohama not really?? Antes aren't part of a round of betting. Blind are forced bets in a round.
@Jay when you spay a kitten, you terminate (in a sense) her ova.
Definitely had chessbOaRd and lyft as herrigs before the crosses out me in my place! Fun puzzle!
@Kvetchy Kvaddle as kid in the 90s, Zelda sounded appropriately exotic to me! I didn't (still don't?) know any real life examples of a Zelda
@Erica C there's an archaic meaning of "meet" that means suitable or FIT. Think something like in shakespeare: 'Tis meet that they should do honor to their liege lord (or something like that).
@Murhatroid what's the problem with extension and exe?
@BAuskern I didn't know any of those really (except SOJU) but was able to get all of them on crosses.
@jmooser a snarl is a traffic jam or backup. Could be a regional thing.
@Mary Wilson that's why Tin has the symbol Sn!
Did anyone else get stuck with lLAMAZON? No, just me?
@Andii I agree! Good thing this puzzle was explained by 62 Across!
@Ray the rebus EQUALS also works. Or are you telling me iphone users can't rebus?
@Jim an expression, perhaps, but not a linear expression.
@LordBottletop usually the acceptable entries are: Full rebus Both entries separated with a slash Either initial letter
@Charlie Newton Alas, polo shirts have gone the way of xerox machines and kleenexs. I think the clue is reasonable as is. PCP is definitely an initialism I've used, and often when I move to a new city it's one of the first people I'll try to get set up with.
@Gil Hivens it's literally PA SS AG ES that are secret!
@Noah how are B and N not words?
@Cindy Lou and these May clues certainly do!
@Michael Dunham Because the instructions to leave them blank only applies for Android users.
What are HERES in relation to a toaster?
@Crevecoeur "step right up step right up! It's the world's ugliest puppy! And also, the man with two knees!" The person yelling that is a barker.
@Bill so interesting, the NE and SE fell easily but I had a hell of a time finding my way in the NW and SW. Plenty of Naticks for me!
@NMarie I absolutely had Arial as well!
@Steve AXE was a perfectly cromulent entry; there was no [big fella] clue
@MC all words are made up; your examples aren't particularly more so then others.
@Crevecoeur the WIIU was the successor console to the WII.
