Meh. I get it, but I wasn't into it. The theme just seems so random. This one wasn't for me.
I'm so sorry to hear about Arjun.
I loved this one!! Didn't love DEEPS though, felt like DEEP would have been the right word. Overall fun, tricky, but not impossible. Kind of a perfect puzzle!
Tough but fun! Longer than my average time for a Friday, which doesn't happen too much anymore!
Wow! Tricky and fun. Really enjoyed this one. Thank you, Ryan!
Such a clever puzzle! I wanted TOAST for GOODS, thanks to 6A. I wanted LEO at 37A instead of 41D. There were so many little misdirections like that throughout. Very well designed and a lot of fun!
Very nice one! This one was a little tricky for a Tuesday, I thought, but excellent!
This was such a cute one! I'm intrigued by what the original gimmick may have been. Hopefully we'll still get to see it in a future puzzle!
I knew a lot of the big ones right out the gate, but OATEN threw me for a loop!
Cute! This one came together quickly, but still had a couple of tricky points. I enjoyed it!
Tricky, but doable and fun! This puzzle was so well designed! I loved all the echoing clues.
Given the timing of this puzzle, I was looking for egg-themed clues, but figure it out pretty quickly once I finished the SMILE. Nice chewy one. (Is POETRIES a word?)
Happy birthday, Joe! This was a fun one! My quickest Friday ever!
Nice chewy one! I really enjoyed it. The circles were a pretty ingenious device. Very clever!
Lol at the Tony Hawk entry!
Tough one! I had to walk away and sleep on it. Finally changed the S to Z in INEZ and figured it out!!
@Wayne C I loved that they went for OREO COOKIE instead of just OREO. It threw me off the scent!
A very fast Friday for me (fastest ever), but I really enjoyed the fill. I thought the longer entries were somehow more accessible than usual, curious what others thought!
@Suzzzanne I always remember there's a tricky E in there somewhere. Fortunately for me, that was my last letter to fill, so I knew where to put it!
@Andrés the faster I get, the less time I get to spend doing something I enjoy!
Tricky one! There was something very satisfying about the center being the last part I sorted out. Well done!
Can someone explain 55D SAW to me? I'm feeling a little dense.
Wow, I bean my Saturday average by nearly an hour with this one! I connected quickly with the longer fill answers, otherwise this would have been much tougher.
@Shawn Same! It felt like a lot of the entries were geared toward the millennial age group. I'm wondering if the older solvers felt the same.
@Brenda *Sam's. Thank you, Sam!
@Tracy K I first came across the phrase when The Museum of English Rural Life posted their Absolute Unit of a sheep! He's worth a look, if you feel like googling.
I got the current clue more quickly, but I would have gotten HUNDO P too!
I still don't get DUE from "Directly." I'm sure there's a usage I'm missing. Directly as in soon? "He'll be along directly." "He's due at any moment." Seems like a stretch.
I'll go with the BTS Army. The KISS ARMY is getting up there!
@Kelly Burgess if you're on the app, hit the button with the dots.
@Asher "metal" like "heavy metal."
Am I missing something? I've completed the puzzle and didn't get happy music or an alert that I have something wrong. The clock is just continuing to tick. Is there an extra step or something on this puzzle, or is it a glitch?
@Robby usually it pops up with a message saying that you have an error. It's weird that it didn't!
@Barry Ancona I think he's saying that rather than being a misdirection, it was, to him, a straightforward reading of the clue!
Very clever! I knocked out the rest of the grid, but that central square was tricky with no crosses to work from! It took quite a bit of trial and error. Well done!
@B you book a reservation, you book a stay. I feel like if you can swap the words out, it's fair game, although I never would have gotten that one without the crosses!
