A great debut and a thoroughly fun Thursday puzzle!
Best of luck in your new ventures, Deb. You will be missed here.
Enjoyable but fairly easy for a Saturday. I just had a little trouble at the end trying to find my mistake when I had BUONA instead of BUONO because I couldn't spell ONOMATOPOEIA. TIL about ALT-TAB. Pretty embarrassing that I didn't know it since I spend my whole day working in Windows. I only knew about ALT-ESC but this could come in handy so thanks Alina!
What a great workout to start my day! I really enjoyed the challenge and sense of accomplishment when I got my hard-earned gold star.
An easy but enjoyable puzzle. The musical Valentine's message was delightful!
Yesterday felt like a Wednesday to me (not the puzzle, my life in general) and I had to keep reminding myself it was only Tuesday. Then this morning I woke up did the puzzle and said, maybe it's Thursday and I was right all along! This is not a complaint - I love Thursday puzzles and was happy to get a bonus Thursday lite today.
I thoroughly enjoyed this debut puzzle! It was just the right mix of challenging and clever.
This one was interesting, it flowed differently for me than a typical Saturday. Usually I start out with almost nothing and then suddenly it starts flowing. Today I started out quickly and filled in close to half the puzzle, then came to a screeching halt. I got there eventually and ended up a little over my typical Saturday time.
@Mek It's actually INTIMATE DETAILS. That happens to me all the time that I parse the clue incorrectly and can't make sense of it.
Adrianne, congratulations on a great debut puzzle. I really enjoyed it. Condolences on the loss of your friend, I'm sure he would be very proud of you.
I think this puzzle would have been a lot more interesting if the poem was retold in a truly modern way, such as with current slang or things that did not exist when it was first written, instead of just summarized.
This was was right in my wheelhouse so a pretty quick one for me, but highly enjoyable. Latto was actually a gimme for me. She had a song that was on the radio that I took notice of as it samples 'Genius of Love'. I'm still an 80s New Wave girl.
@Isabeau I have in fact made and eaten lox on a latke. Here is a recipe for lox on a slice of potato which gave me the idea of putting it on a mini latke instead. Delicious! https://toriavey.com/baby-lox-potatoes-appetizer/
A new Friday PB for me. Very enjoyable puzzle, just should not have run on a Friday.
@Ernest congrats on your debut! I found this one very enjoyable and hope to see more from you in the future.
@Scott I came here to make the exact same comment.
@Rahul I 100% agree. I'm working my way through the archives backwards and the older puzzles are definitely harder. I'm stuck on a Friday from 2015 right now and only about 40% of the way there whereas I finished today's (Saturday) in just over 12 minutes!
I enjoyed the puzzle but am frustrated because the "TV" clues all accepted the rebus but the revealers (which were also shaded as a pair) did not accept SS. I kept looking for my mistake but it turned out that I could only have 1 S in that square. Aaargh!
@Harry that's funny, it was one of my only gimmes on my first pass.
@Nancy J. I saw Billy Bragg perform at my college (probably 1989?) and he was fantastic.
@Grant ALT-ESC works just fine for that too!
