Just because two teams are in the same conference (yes, that's what the Ivy League is) does mean they are rivals. A very silly cross-reference clue IMO. Check out what recent students think at https://collegepulse.com/blog/ivy-league-rivalries We are stretching beyond what rivalry is an accepted word for by allowing this entry.
TURTLESHELL was my favorite answer in a long time!
Really fun and great theme. PB for a Wednesday for us.
@David Van B Sorry, I was literally looking at this yesterday and there are: https://www.trasmed.com/en/routes/ibiza-ciudad-mahon-menorca (Not to be all Bary on you)
Is is an alternate reality where everyone (that is a NYT crossword editor) knows tater is a term for a home run? I've never heard it before and just rolled with tater even though I've been watching baseball my whole life. Seems like it's a baseball term relegated to use as a crossword clue. Fun puzzle though!
I'm curious why 21 Down is clued as Vodka brand, informally. The cluing is out of date. The informal name STOLI was made the official name in 2022: https://www.npr.org/2022/03/07/1085053999/stolichnaya-vodka-stoli-ukraine-russia
@Darren Yes, I feel you (unfortunately some heathens do make vodka gimlets...)
I don't think that tee-ball should be clued as baseball, it's really a different sport.
