I'm absolutely begging you to get rid of that Times Family banner at the top. It's not just an annoyance, it actually makes it far more difficult to solve the puzzle on the website.

For me, this is the Sunday of the year -- the beauty of the construction, the lack of virtually any standard fill, and cute grid art as well? How you pulled this off Rafael is beyond me. I often complain about Sundays -- so much standard small-ball fill to plow though makes them a slog for me. The themes rarely amuse me. I wish every Sunday puzzle was like Rafael's!

@ad absurdum People use this to mean recommendations all the time. Not literalists, but real people.

First, let's just accept we are all too obsessed with crossword day placement. Since the Weds was swapped with Thursday (see yesterday's Wordplay) and that was based on the testing group, it does make you wonder how representative that group is of the general NYT solving population. But it would be totally normal for there to be a few times a year where even a representative group is just off from the broader group of solvers.

I have such a pounding headache after 10 minutes I have to give up. The NYT tech team needs to hire some expertise in inclusive design.

In the US it's common to say that someone who wears nice clothes is a "fashion plate" -- the clue was actually more literal than I expected.

@Oikofuge Funny, I've only seen "rigamarole." I wonder if it's a UK/US thing.

@Meghan Amazing -- of course we shouldn't have to do this just to have an accessible website, but that's a great workaround.

Type B isn't really used in the US either... the kids might call you a "beta" but even that's rare, IMO

I've been enjoying it too! Today was a tough one. https://www.bostonglobe.com/games/align/

I was wondering if this was an editing error or some sort of intentional joke? If so it went over my head.

@MDB I love how you think NYT makes Thursday puzzles "for the masses"

@Steve L Yes, sometimes they will take the GRE, but it's still a bad clue. There were lots of better options here.

@Barry Ancona That is exactly what happened to me. I had to check to find the error.

@Erika She was in the approved line of succession. Edward actually tried to remove her as heir just before his death.

@Steve L Please explain how this is "wordplay" -- I see words but no play.
