@Vaer It's true that Americans like to brand things, and have weird traditions related to days of the week (like Hump Day) or specific dates (like February 6 is National Frozen Yogurt Day). However, Meatless Mondays is actually morphed from Meatless Tuesdays, presumably for the pleasant alliterative sounds. It comes from a World War I war effort to reduce meat consumption at home so that more resources could be directed to war efforts.
@Diane As a former reader of the Harry Potter books, this one felt pretty natural to me.
@Jane Wheelaghan I wouldn't say that restaurants have kid's tables. Rather, in a lot of American family gatherings, especially ones where 20+ people may be attending, sometimes children are set together at a different table where manners and dishes are more relaxed so the adults can have adult conversations and fancy dishes without worrying about the kids upsetting that.
@Steve L Interesting! Also on a PC desktop, also running Chrome, I still can't scroll the column with the comments sidebar open. Congrats on your good fortune, though.
@Francis There's a joke somewhere in there about a thong's lack of material, but I'm not cheeky enough to make it.
@I Thee Mack That was my last letter solved, but my eye kept coming back to that because it was one of the themes and my subconscious caught that the S didn't fit.
@John Carson Strands #303 “Resolutions” 🔵🔵🔵🔵 🔵🔵🟡 I got it eventually, but today was SO HARD for me. I had probably 20 non-list words before I had my first blue, and another ten before I had my second. And when it came to the yellow, I put it backwards before I put it forwards because I just couldn't see the answer.
@Times Rita do you have a suggestion for what we could use instead? One or two words that means "root for [x] and [y] as a romantic couple"?
@Man and 2 dogs Pogs were basically marbles for 90s kids. I'm not mad at it.
@John Carson Strands #302 “Keep it classical” 🟡🔵🔵🔵 🔵🔵 Found about eight words before my first word.
