A Sunday puzzle just ruined.
Living in rural Wisconsin all my life I’m pleased to report that never in my life have I heard the words “COW SHED”.
This was a TUESDAY puzzle?!
Lots of real reaches in this one… TEENER, IRAIL. Ok.
A pretty easy puzzle, so I didn’t need to figure out whatever the unnecessary and overwrought theme was. A real dud.
‘One of 32 in the NFL’ is wrong. The Green Bay Packers don’t have an owner. They’re publicly owned.
Someone has to to tell me about “Table Scraps” = ORTS. I can’t make anything of it.
Wow I solved the puzzle! Great gimmick, the name of the color goes down along side the color lines, and a rebus with another letter makes the across word! Yay me! Oh wait, what? That’s wrong? Every one of those down squares is wrong? What a ridiculous part of a crossword- trying to decipher how the puzzle is “supposed” to be entered.
Tough for a Sunday, but what an amazing theme! Great puzzle.
A completely unnecessary theme. I never did see any “bonus clues” anywhere until I came here to comment. Otherwise it was pretty easy to solve.
@Coco thank you! Although I do the NYT and WAPO every day, I’ve never seen it. Or maybe don’t remember…. 😬
A great puzzle! So much fun.
Thankfully the apparently heavenly theme didn’t mean much to the solving of the puzzle. What one looks for and appreciates in crossword puzzles really varies quite widely I guess.
Some real stretches… like TOGAE and BOSNS. But ok.
@Olga that was my one wrong square too. It’s KY for LEAKY/STINKY. Both KS and KY work in the puzzle, so that’s too bad… I’d never have found the error.
