Just to be clear, Yahweh is not a Hebrew name for God. At least not to Jews. From a religious standpoint, trying to pronounce the four-letter name is forbidden. So we say Adonai or Hashem, which allude to “The Name” but make no attempt to pronounce it. In an academic setting, Yahweh is used. But it feels tacky to me to have in a puzzle, which is not an academic forum.
I’ve never bragged here before, but I finished the puzzle without realizing that the first two letters were all hidden in the clues. I just solved the clues and dropped the first two letters I’m proud of me.
@Ryan I missed the obvious baseball link, and just assumed that a twin would be a rival for the crown.
@Hilton agreed! Since the doubled letter was a part of solving the puzzle, why did I have to DELETE them in order to be considered solved???
@Jerry a hen party or “hen do” is the British version of a bachelorette party.
@Joan I’m 51, and not a hardcore puzzler. But I liked this one.
@MExpat it’s the verb contests. con-TESTS. One definition is “ engage in competition to attain (a position of power).” as found online. The candidate vies for power.
