What was the HO_S I was supposed to infer from the Tricky Clues section?

@Tom Gift Cop was part of the theme, not a widely used term I believe!

@Steve L I hate this attempt at a counter argument. Why do you insist on forcing people to add “in my humble opinion” to every sentence?? Obviously he’s stating his opinions . !

So lovely to see Will is well enough to be back with us. Two strokes feels unnecessarily painful to have to deal with! Hope he’s recovering well. This also happens to have been the first Friday I’ve managed to complete without aid. I finally got there after hundreds of Monday-Thursday attempts. Thanks for a fun puzzle!

Never blame the constructor, it’s the NYT’s editors that have the final say on this everything. They change clues to ensure they’re to snuff. However, this wasn’t just a very tricky Tuesday, it was below par in terms of clues, too. “You believe me now?” / “What’d I say?” Huh? I feel like we’re being punished for last week’s slightly easier turn? :’(

Einstein never said this, of course. Although the internet seems insistent that he did... along with a ton of other sophomoric quotes.
