Especially fun for a Tuesday puzzle!
This was really fun. Not hard but just enjoyable from start to finish. Never saw PLOSIVE before, and I thought the arcade game was WHAC(K)AMOLE.
I still didn't understand the theme even when I got GRANDRAPID. Not until MAKINGANIMPACT. Not too hard after that, but this was a really fun, memorable crossword. More of these please!
Fastest solve ever, but fun, fun, fun. Hadn't thought of Augie Doggie since I was about 10.
@Jimmy C Right but Shindug doesn't work so the shindig must be in Hindi.
Very clever. The clues to the numbers were easy to figure out but it took me a break and a re-look to figure out that x meant “multiply.” Duh!
Not hard, but I only got the theme—ships and shapes—after I solved the puzzle, so not so much fun with this one.
@sotto voce eggs with that emu toast?
@AudreyLM Agree completely. Hard and fun. Sometimes I solve the puzzle without being able to connect the theme and the clues. This time it took me over 30 minutes to get the theme and after that the remaining clues fell into place.
@Jim Ditto on time: 35 minutes below my usual, but totally enjoyed the puns.
Answer to 49 Across is incorrect. The agency that funds PBS - the Corporation for Public Broadcasting - is an independent federal agency and not part of the NEA.
I got no clue from the theme but managed to solve the puzzle anyway. Lots of fun and the reveal was terrific. I think it would have been harder if I had gotten the meaning of the theme.
Hardest part was not getting assuaged by SWAGE.
@Nina yes, easy puzzle, finished in under 10 minutes. loved the animation upon solving.
Not difficult but I didn’t get the digits part of the theme until I solved the puzzle. My fingers are thin, though, and my typing errors are result of typing too fast. So my first guess was onefingersyndrome until I realized that didn’t fit the down clues.
Tricky, tricky, tricky for a Wednsday puzzle but really fun. Got stuck for a bit on 48 Down when I entered SCORE rather than OPERA, but recovered when I realized 45 Across was FLYING COLORS.
@IZ Same. 32:03, so quite easy although I never got the connection between the theme and the solutions. Flowing without knowing.
Really fun today. Loved the anagrams, especially the Italian (or Italian-American?) one.
Easier than usual, but I didn't get the 007 image until I solved the puzzle. Guess that makes me sorta clueless.
@dutchiris and the unsuccessful counterfeiter Bill Maher
Not hard to solve, but I never figured out the theme.
Not difficult once I got 41 across, but really clever and fun.
@Steve Same. So clever I missed it even after I solved the puzzle.
Fun and not difficult but I never got the theme until after I solved the puzzle.
Easy , actually too easy, once I connected theme and solution. Record time for me: 24:38.
