If the app cannot display the clue properly then don’t publish the puzzle. This was so frustrating and unacceptable particularly for those of us who pay extra. Don’t take us for granted.
This one lived in a different cultural universe than I. Which is not a criticism just a statement about how the NYT Crossword must evolve if it is bring in new and diverse solvers. For example in my many many decades of Thanksgiving meals at a variety of different homes I have never once been served a corn on the cob. And I doubt if many people making a corn soufflé start with corn on the cob and not canned or frozen corn. I had no idea what Texas toast is. I never use the expression Diss And I can’t even fathom why anyone would ever pierce their lip.

Sam, you love the jazzy sting upon completion but I love the little prompts telling me “Halfway “ or “3/4ths”! It’s as if the Crossword is saying “Keep going, you can do this!”
King Rat is a great film and shows you how great George Segal was before he became a sit com standard.
42A not making sense in crossword logic It should read “A Tough” bc goon is not a synonym for tough the adjective but tough the noun.

Padoodle! Not Padiddle! My husband and I are seniors and we both grew up w Padoodle one of us from NYC the other from Milwaukee.
