Congratulations * 52 Saturdays In A Row I fail on 5 to 10 puzzles a year and don’t get to another 20 or so. But late last year I realized I was on a long streak of Saturdays (of all days!) I have been working on it to get to this one.
Not a big fan of this one. A clue about a Chicago landmark with the ending in ‘rie’ should really be a nearby Great Lake - Erie. Also a womb is just as much of a metaphorical body building place as a tomb is. I get it that ‘comb’s build body also but that wouldn’t merit the ?
Did anyone else feel like Citizen Kane on his deathbed today?
How can the smell of fear not be petrichor?
1 Across also fits the theme. The square root of one is one.
Loved the theme. But the vulgarity was clumsy.
Some say easy, but any puzzle with this much white space automatically qualifies for end of the week. That’s what I call an ‘empty stare’.
Maybe if they had called themselves ‘Sexasonic’ they would have made it past the one hit wonder status. And don’t forget the Hexans of the 6th planet in the Shortzwilly system.
Flak/flap Debug/debut I would not have solved this but for the answer key
Turkey Jerky is a pale substitute for Slim Jim.
Stall and Sticks are anti-theme answers right on the top line!
This puzzle took me from anarchy to mob rule. Well at least I did not need to find my red Bozo nose to finish it.
That was one for my hairy humerus.
Chuno! I wish today’s picture was one of a potato.
Without the key, this puzzle would have been extra hard for me.
@Reader If a word appears three times (or more), then you call it a theme. But twice is a head scratcher, unless that happens three times.
@Barry Ancona But is it cheating to use clue navigation mode on a phone?
@Andrzej in Poland - "w" means "in" That would make this clue easy for you since in English “inn” means “hotel”
@Ami Good luck. My best daily streak is around 50.
@Jay Thanks so much. I have 2 separate all gold star months. Maybe I’ll try February this year also. At least I’ve got a good start
Kind of hoped for a pic of Roddy McDowall today. That was some old time special effects.
Does anyone think the incorrect ‘e’ was circled in 48A and 26D and it should have been 52A and 25D? The former leaves 2 two letter combinations and the later makes a word.
