Louis Armstron was never called Satch. Except by lamebrain hipsters. It is Satchmo.
@Mean Old Lady What? You had trouble figuring it out? Obscure usage has always been a part of clueing. We don't all say eh, either
@Beejay I never thought of a lei as being a head ornament...always a necklace.
@Joe just use the escape key/enter key
@Graphic advertising largely a thing of the past??? What world are you living it? Advertising is the main engine of commerce in the digital world. Little fees are another but not enough to replace the ad revenue by any means.
Another puzzle designed to be solvable only by those under 20. Using names of obscure pop culture figures combined with references to video games and cell phone lore. This combined with the many puzzles being created to show off the constructors skill or cutesy little pictures that require the bulk of the clues to be far to easy in order to have any chance of making sense of the theme. Bah, Humbug
@Barry Ancona What is a crossword if not a trivia test?
@Andrzej I never could understand the Tsar spelling. The name is a diminutive of caesar so it should be spelled with a C, in my reckoning. But I agree, the most common Xword spelling seems to be tsar so this was a bit of trap.
@Katie any look up is a cheat, not a solve
@Rich in Atlanta Not any kind of streak if you had to look anything up.
@Ken Funny how Will never had a problem with that. Just lack of imagination.
@KD Just a confirmation? Makes you stop looking so its still a cheat.
@Francis Have you ever looked up an answer?.. If so, not a streak
