The groundskeeper should have been 'Moe'
@Skeptical1 "untold riches" implies a lot of.
Clever enough, I suppose, but more impressive would any puzzle that does not use 'eke'.
The clue for 63 across should be "short cut" not ("cut short") since the answer is "snip"
iodine is not a mineral
@Times Rita That character is just a dash. N-dash is a bit longer; M-dash longer still.
@IvanaVindalotto I dislike themed puzzles that, however clever in construction, have little or no actual role as clues due to their obscurity. The "hooks" in this case were meaningless to me. I completed the puzzle then read the commentary to see what they were about.
@Steve P My experience exactly - best Thursday and the Z in 'sizingup' was my last letter. I find it an unsatisfying flaw when the trick is not necessary for me to solve it all.
@Lewis I thought it was a typo for 'Pain in the butt'. What am I missing?
The "check square" feature is buggy. It approves of a single letter when a rebus would be required. I had tentative single letters in a few squares but could not correct them to a rebus after checking them. My "approved" solution shows PTRIOTS and PULA. Those Ps should be the rebus PA.
