I am in awe of anyone who can construct a crossword, especially one with clever rebuses that work both ways in different ways. I thank the constructors and the editors for providing us with these daily brain pleasures.

Why is a “base unit” a “cot”? I get that it’s a military base. And I get that a cot is a bed. But I don’t understand why a bed is a unit of a military base.
Thank goodness for crossing entries. Otherwise I would never have been able to get this erucsbo theme. Which, as many have indicated, I still don’t get.
I completed the puzzle and understand the trick but still don’t get it. Chance—>chants ——> om? How do you get there?
