@Wark welcome and you are so right. That being said, I’m sure the constructors understand what people are like and don’t take it too personally. Over time, I’ve actually started to come here just to see what people are complaining about each day. For example, I was expecting all kinds of complaints about whether this was an appropriate Tuesday puzzle, but the constructor and the column saw that coming and already addressed it at length. For the constructor: great job. Loved the puzzle and thought many of the clues were unique and clever. I love to see some new slang like “yeets.”
Really enjoyed it! I have not heard “Hundo P” before, but I think it would have been fair and I would have liked it. I had to put this one away and come back to it several times, but it slowly came together. Rhubarb, tater tot and absolute unit were my favorites! Thanks for a great puzzle
@Steven M. Edna Mode is a legendary character and I’m certain that she has made several well deserved appearances in the NYT crossword in the past year or two. Just a great character and great name, loved by all ages, even us people over 40 who saw the movie when it came out 20 YEARS AGO?!? Did you know that she was voiced by the creator/director of The Incredibles, Brad Bird? Ps, thanks to Deb for sharing her lovely, personal story in the column today.
I liked the answer to E#. Totally fair! I did get stuck in that corner with the foreign language clues and had to look some up. Thanks for another fun puzzle!
The puzzle came together slowly but surely. I gave in and looked up Marnie and Syms. Had a fun time with this one. Thanks! Interesting how some comments are about how hard it was and other comments complain that it was too easy. I enjoyed it. Thanks
@Mike K I didn’t particularly care for that one, either. I had to go through every letter of the alphabet to fill in my last letter for the “r.” I guess, it is kind of funny to have the sincere HAHA as well as the sarcastic HAR in the same puzzle. Now I can refine my online comments. Har dee har har
Well, I made it here after multiple attempts and finally getting the now infamous Tauren/atoz cross. It was hard, but there’s no other day to publish it. The theme was easier than normal, but the clues were hard. I was not the least bit surprised to see that the author has 4 published Saturday puzzles. I think this one was a less enjoyable than normal because you don’t quite get the satisfaction of finishing a hard Saturday puzzle or the aha moment of a figuring out a tricky Thursday theme. Still liked it. Thanks!
