Lost it with PAH. Tripe. Could be BAH, NAH, GAH. Take your pick.
So 'Dolphin's fluke' is not a WIN?
Anyone else getting a little tired of cast members from the film Parasite as clues? It’s time to move on, folks.
Top half: This is easy! Bottom half: What is this fresh hell?
'Sol but not Luna' was diabolical. Well played.
I don’t get the two interjections in OMAHA. O! MAHA! or OM! AHA! or OMA! HA! None of these make sense.
I almost gave up then made some breakthroughs (SCREAMQUEEN, GOESNUCLEAR). But then it got tricky again. I really didn’t like HOLIER for the two Medinas. Would have preferred “Swiss cheese vs cheddar”. Now that’s fun!
I am honestly surprised at the phrase “speaks ones piece”. I was convinced it was flat out wrong. I’ve only ever heard of “speaking one’s peace”. So I had to google it and I guess “today I learned…”.
Today I learned about CHOLER.
First Wednesday in a long time I gave up on. Not fun.
I was proud to finish this Friday without lookups, but Saturday still clobbers me. Eked out a third of this puzzle but then I was truly stumped.
After spending more than 1.5 hours on this puzzle, I got undone by the northeast corner. La petite Therese? Still don’t get it. Is it STE for Saint Therese? Throws hands up.
Not one, not two, but THREE Bible references (four if you include ISLAM...) had me crying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Wow first Monday in a long time I didn’t breeze through. Got done in by the NW corner. I hate summer/winter time clues. I don’t know what they’re called, I just adjust my watch and and get on with it.
Hazard Cleanup = DECON is new to me.
I was decidedly not on the same wavelength as this constructor.
Things were going quite swimmingly for about half the puzzle. Then I got some spots where nothing made sense and I couldn’t solve for hide nor hair. Got super frustrated and threw my hands in the air on this one. Gah!
It’s one of those puzzles where you’re either on the same wavelength as the constructor or you’re not. It was the latter for me today. The trivia was completely not in my orbit, so I eventually gave up. Not fun when this happens, but o well. Perhaps the next one will be better. This puzzle was not for me.
This beat me. I prefer consistent 'twists'. Having one clue that's a rebus and the others are not threw me. I gave up.
Struggled, filled in the clues given to us, figured I would trundle along, had to reveal IGOTTOJET and realized this is not my puzzle.
@KStandiford I'm glad I'm not the only one. I felt those theme answers were more contrived than usual. Not a fan of this Wednesday puzzle.
Mostly OK, but challenging. Got beaten by things I’ve never heard of in my half century on earth: FAIRISLESWEATER ARMAGEDDONCHESS (and I am an avid chess player) And even with _OWN I was still stumped by ‘Gown go-with’. Is it ‘Town Gown’? ‘Gown Town’? They just rhyme? Still no idea.
I wasn’t smart enough for this puzzle.
Did not know CHOLER, so was stuck on CHOLET after I googled SATTRE and got results. Guess I'm not the only one to misspell SARTRE!
I don't know, I didn't enjoy this one. Maybe I was impatient but the solutions just weren't coming. Scolding = REPROOF? Never heard of that. Also US sports and biblical references. My kryptonite. So annoying. Anyway, hope others had fun.
Was pretty easy except for the South East corner. Been a while since I've seen TEC so I was scratching my head for a bit.
@Sammy Well technically anything that you can't identify in the sky is a UFO.
At first I struggled, almost gave up. But then, like a gym-goer, I persisted. Tough but fair puzzle!
Everything went well until I got stumped by the TWIG ROMA OOPS box. Not a RUBY tomato. Not OH MY or OH NO, though I suspected OOPS too. Sigh.
Got undone by SDSU and DNA.
Never heard of Lipo. Didn't understand DDT Banner. Ok, now I do as I write this. Still, annoying.
Sometimes you’re going along nicely and you think you’re going to do it today. Then you encounter just totally opaque clues. SEND = ELATE? Baby you send me? I guess. I suppose it’s the point, but I hate just being so totally stumped sometimes. It’s annoying.
@BR It was one of those ‘if you know you know’. I did, so it was a tasty cross to get.
Thought the puzzle was pretty good until only the SE corner was left. Brutal! I don't follow basketball so I was wrong about SUPER EIGHT. Not my day.
Everything went swimmingly until I got to the SW corner. My own personal natick. An obscure (to me) Bible clue (sigh) crossed with a flower and an obscure film. Yay.
Undone by obscure trivia. Santa left me a lump of coal this Christmas. Ho ho ho.
@suejean You’re not alone. I also found this harder than the usual Monday. I had to double check that I’m looking at a Monday puzzle.
Everything went well until I was defeated by the NE corner.
Well we have PDA for "Public displays of affection" so why shouldn't DOA be appropriate for "Display of affection" as a "makeup ingredient"? Ah well, got beaten today.
@Rich in Atlanta Thanks for explaining. Was still scratching my head at 'Xaxes'.
@Anthony AMSCRAY was diabolical. Nothing in clue to hint at the use of Pig Latin. I cry foul on that one.
I know I should know the initials on a food assistance card by now, but I don’t. So between that and gate initials, which I still don’t get, I was stumped. Lovely natick there, thank you very much.
@RozzieGrandma I had to look up Shohei Ohtani because it’s another piece of sporting trivia that I don’t give a hoot about but there it is. So annoying.
Started pretty well, got some big fills right off the bat. But then was completely flummoxed by the incredibly obscure ones. LULU? Not fun.
That was hard for a Tuesday. I still don’t get the REBUS clue.
@Gregg I really detest American sports terms and trivia in the puzzle.
