Hi Deb, As someone who lost her father a little more than a year ago, I would like to offer my deepest condolences, and also some comdort, maybe: They never really leave. Dad's still watching over me, not in a religious sense, but as the loving parent who guided me into adulthood, and far beyond. They'll always be a part of us.
Loved solving this one, delightfully tricky. But I was thrown off a little by 37a - isn't it against the crossword rules if the answer repeats a word in the clue?
