@dave The clue seeks a synonym for ex- (like ex-president and past president); it's not a fill in the blank clue. That would be presented as "Ex-___".
Super fun to see a puzzle with this creativity appear as a Monday. It's inspiring to see the care that went into this -- I notice that there aren't any other O's in the grid except for the pathway bouncing around. This certainly required a lot of work to build. Loved it!
Super puzzle today! Very clean fill with no really obscure entries. Entertaining because of freshness of long entries and nice deceptive clueing.
Really super fun puzzle, very accomplished construction and nicely diverting clueing. Typically it's frowned on to use a word in clues that appears in grid answers, but here for the superb central across entry, using "Can I ..." is just fine with me. I had BEAUTYSCHOOL for a while in upper right. Enjoyed seeing nice "crunchy"/"scrabbley" words like ECZEMA crossing PANZA, and the TCHOTCHKE crossing STICKERSHOCK. A very welcome professional debut for Kelvin Zhou.
Super creative theme this Thursday! Loved it.
